Aw come on, Gore flamed out at the end but still had a good year. Two years ago was when he really burned owners. He's probably a top 5 guy this year, definitely a first-rounder.

Ok Jackson may be a bit of a homer pick, but the Rams are going to be far more of a run-based team this year

Gore finished outside the top 10 last year, but I still love him. I want to pick late in the 1st so I can grab back to back RBs and get him.

Five Reasons Maurice Jones-Drew Deserves To The #2 Pick

1. Tra Thomas, Eugene Monroe & Eben Britton add a lot of depth to the offensive line.

2. With Fred Taylor gone, MJD should see 250-300 carries for the first time in his career.

3. Torry Holt should help Garrard open up the passing game. Even as a #2, he's better than anything the Jags had in '08.

4. So long, Albert Haynesworth! Suddenly, facing Tennessee twice a year isn't as intimidating.

5. Run happy schedule: Besides the Titans, the only Top 10 run defenses MoJo will face next year are the Jets (7th) and the Dolphins (10th). Seven of sixteen games are against teams with Bottom 10 run defenses, including the Browns (28th), Rams (29th) and Chiefs (30th).

My Top Five:

1. Adrian Peterson
2. Maurice Jones-Drew
3. Matt Forte
4. Michael Turner
5. DeAngelo Williams

Stupac you have just convinced me. I have been struggling to give him a spot. I may personally have him at 3 now, but great stuff.

Thanks! I actually convinced myself while I was researching that post... At first I could only come up with 4 reasons, and then I looked at Jacksonville's schedule... Outside of those crappy defenses, the rest of the teams they play all have middle-of-the-road run defenses like Seattle, Arizona, Buffalo and New England.

Unfortunately, I won my money league last year, which means I get the 10th pick this year. But if MoJo somehow falls, it's over...

With all 3 of those guys, I believe pass protection is their strong suit if I remember correctly. Wasn't run blocking really the only thing Khalif Barnes did well in Jax?

Wasn't Sam Baker supposed to be just a pass blocker? Yet, Michael Turner rushed for almost 1700 yards last season.

I'm of the persuasion that adding any kind of talent and/or depth to the offensive line is beneficial to both the running game and the passing game.

If defenses can't get to the QB because of great pass protection, then they have to drop the strong safety or another linebacker back into coverage, thus helping to open up running lanes. Conversely, if they can't stop the run due to great run blocking, you're forced to bring up that safety, making it easier for WR's down field.

A great offensive line is a great offensive line. Period. Adding talent like Thomas, Monroe and Britton to a unit with guys like Manuwai and Pashos could make this a great offensive line.

Its a legitamate argument and you never know MJD has potential to fall pretty far on draft day. He has huge upside but there are those who go solely off of last years end ranking so he is going to be a steal in the mid to late 1st round.

Actually, I thought the concerns with him were if he could handle the speed of pass rushers on the left side. Not his run blocking ability. He answered if he could play or not. I wasn't knocking Jax's o line by any means, I was just saying those guys aren't known as road graders.

It's a valid point. I guess my argument is that the offensive line is a unit, and any time you add talent, it improves the entire group. I'm sure there are plenty of examples when this hasn't been the case, but I've just never bought into the idea that because someone has been labeled either a pass or run blocker for one team then they aren't capable of doing the other for a different team.

Eben Britton is an elite run blocking RT (better then Barnes), Monroe is a solid run blocker (better then Pashos). Tra Thomas is just a bench player for the time being.

You don't know any of this, because neither have played a down yet. Khalif Barnes was a pretty damn good run blocker.

MJD is a very interesting case with Fred Taylor out of the picture. Last year, there were a lot of times where MJD would get 2 points one week, then 20 points the next. My friend who never knew when to start him nicknamed him Maurice Jones-****ed me over. I'll be interested to see if his body can hold up as a lone feature back, even as strong and determined as he is. It's hard to tell right now where he'll fall. In my draft, he could conceivably go two, or late first, its hard to tell at this point IMO.

Khalif Barnes played LT and the Jaguars were 2nd in the AFC in rushing yard average to the left side.

Eugene Monroe will start at LT. Eben Britton is the RG or RT. Tony Pashos may be released. Tra Thomas could be the RT or swing tackle.

I personally think Pashos will be released.
