BroncosCon just sent me a PM about revisiting the t-shirt idea. I want to do this.
I found a site that makes t-shirts:
http://www.customink.com/
Now, the questions are:
What kind of shirts do I make
What goes on the shirt?
What kind of slogan do I put on the back? (BroncosCon recommended: WalterFootball.com: Where your mock draft gets debacled.)
I'd like to have the word "debacled" somewhere in there.

I don't think anybody would understand "Where debacling happens" or "I got debacled"
The key to good advertising is simplicity and everybody understands "Draftniks Live Here"
This site is about football and the draft and I don't see where "debacle" fits any of that.

Inside jokes aren't funny to people that have no idea what you are talking about = DUMB IDEA
When people read a shirt, it needs to be short and sweet, but they also need to understand wtf you are talking about.

With the shirt, I thought we'd have the WF.com logo on the front, and a slogan/message in the back.
I'd like to incorporate our NFL Draft and Fantasy coverage, and use the word "debacled" if that's possible.

I knew what debacled meant way before Emmitt.
There used to be a line in an old WWF wrestling game. I think it was the arcade game, and the announcer would say. "He just got DEBACLED!"

the answer is so obvious. Have a small contest were people come up with shirt ideas. Put it on the home page with a link to the forums. You limit it down to the top 5 ideas and everyone votes. The winner gets a free shirt. Easy peezy.

a couple of ideas using the old GLB team logo and font:
Idea 1 - Debacling
Idea 2 - Draftniks
Idea 3 - Top 10 ways
op 10 ways you know you are a member:
10) You don't even try to talk to people in real life about the draft because it will do nothing but frustrate you
9) You think you're well aware of exactly how the draft is going to go down until it actually does
8) You cried when you heard Emmitt got fired by ESPN
7) You spend way more time on this site during work instead of actually doing work
6) You've explained your pick for rookie of the year and graded your teams draft at least seven times already
5) You have been in/and lost an arguement to Matt
4) You have seen the Hall of Ownage
3) You cannot remember the last time a thread did not turn into a debate
2) You have read Emmitt on the Brink
1) You understand the word “Debacled”

And by the way, if only 50 people buy the shirt...that's not a good thing. If you want to sell shirts, the majority needs to look at it, get it, and think it is cool enough to spend $20 and buy it.
scar988

Top 10 ways, though I like it, isn't marketable to sell to a mass audience
1st rule of 21st century marketing is that there is no longer is such a thing as mass marketing... Well, maybe not the first rule, but it's up there. We don't have to have a bland shirt because we are NOT marketing to everyone.
The shirts will not be for fashion, and the words "walter" and "football" will pretty much throw off anyone who doesn't like sports. Since it is marketing for more potential draftniks/football peeps/etc. I don't see why it doesn't have a cool logo, maybe some brief info, and a cool but kinda-funny quote like "Debacaling the draft since 1999"
Another thing... is the shirt more supposed to market hits on the front page/site, or to get more forum members(because they are different markets)

Also, there is more traffic in Jan-April, but most advertisers like to put out their ads in August-December, so it actually equals out.

I like this because it puts debacle in a context that makes sense. Although I think there should be more on the front besides just the name of the site. Something else that explains the site has fantasy and draft info (like BroncosCon suggested). I don't like the top ten idea because it's too much of an inside joke that probably isn't going to draw people to the site (even though I'm flattered to see two of mine in the top ten).

Its not mass advertising, Matt. Its free advertising for the site. There is a logo, and then some saying/funny deal that we will understand. If people see it, they will ask about it, and we can tell them to visit, read a little and they will undersand/maybe join.
