What the heck is 8 man football? I guess you'll have 135 lb OL men blocking the QB

It's what small schools do. I know several schools in Iowa (where I grew up) play it.

I can't provide any personal experiences, but here's some wikilove.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight-man_football

Several differences distinguish eight-man football from eleven-man, most notably the elimination of three players. It depends greatly on the type of formation used, but the eliminated players are commonly two offensive tackles and a wide receiver on offense and two defensive backs and a defensive lineman on defense.

The size of the playing field is often smaller in eight-man football than in eleven-man. Some states opt for a smaller, 80 yards long by 40 yards wide field (which is also used in six-man); other states, such as Oklahoma, Colorado, and Idaho, keep the field of play at 100 yards long while reducing the width to 40 yards. Finally, some schools, such as those in north Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, play on a full-sized playing field.

Professional eight-man leagues are numerous in the United States and usually follow indoor football rules of a 50 yard by roughly 25 yard field, as professional 8-man football is usually played indoors.

As of 2008 schools in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington had eight man football.

It's like NFL Street!

But with one extra TE/WR/FB/HB

Isn't it like Arena Football?

3 linemen, 3 WRs, a QB, and a RB.

It's really just like flag football, which I assume many of us played...

School districts that graduate 12 kids a year...well that means there are on average 24 boys in the high school. If the school is lucky there will be 10-12 kids on the football team. They pretty much have no choice.

A basic 8 man formation would be 3 OL 2 TE 1 QB 2 RB. Some places, particularly Kansas run more spread out offenses. 8 man is fun. Being fast is a huge asset as offenses really make speed a priority. Scores sometimes look like Arena Scores
