I'm from Chicago here.... It's not really a good time for sports in our city as the Cubs were no good, Bulls are off to a horrible start, and the Bears... well ya you all know how bad they are

Not wanting to bump all these old threads, but is interesting how this forum has grown, from 2 eruopeans to a bunch of us and even 2 from Sweden.

Generalized hatred for NJ over in Germany. This place has sunk to a new low.
Well I go to college full-time and am currently working 2 jobs. So I am a NJ outlier apparently.

In America you can work for the government, put in little work, and easily make more than people in the private sector.

Where in Sweden do you live Leo? Haha I was only 12 at the time, so I did what 12 year olds do. My mom was the main reason we were there, she got a grant from the University of Minnesota to study for a year at Karolinska Institutet as part of a researcher exchange program.

Not really, when you consider college and healthcare are basically free.
Fun story: my sister's boyfriend is here from Sweden right now. He's unemployed, and not only does he get paid a ridiculous wage to be unemployed, he gets FIVE WEEKS OF PAID VACATION FROM BEING UNEMPLOYED to be in America.

Become a Swedish citizen, fake some sort of thing where you work to much and don't feel good cause you can't sleep and don't see your children at all, and that you're a wreck, mentally. Then you're good to go.
Also, Siena, that was one of the worst grammatical sentence I've ever heard. And Chicago jay, some things are really expensive, like alcohol and food. But we get free meals until we finish high school (who often is pretty good), free healthcare (as Simmonds pointed out) and I think Sweden is one of the best countries to live in if you're over 65. Oh and as Simmonds also pointed out, you can apply to get money from the government if you study at some college. And every family gets a bit of money every month for a child by government until they are 18, if they go to school.

With out a doubt. We also have a law in Sweden that's called allemansrätten (which translates kinda to all mans right) which gives every person the right to walk in the forest and so, no matter who owns the land. But we haven't really exported it, so it doesn't count.
Best things from Germany is beer and............................................... .... beer.

True, your cars are good and you missed porsche, but You got a tough fight with the Italians on who makes the best cars. On the other hand, Sweden has one of the most exclusive car makes in the world, Koeningsegg ;). You make good technologies, but I think the east Asia got you on that one.
Okay, you're right, Bratwurst is definitely Germany.
I counted in the Oktoberfest as beer :D
It wasn't anything bad when I said that you're country is famous for beer, it's just the first thing that pops up to my mind when I think of Germany, and autobahn, and now after World-Cup, how good your soccer team will be in the next years. It's scary

been awhile since someone posted in here and were talking about europe and such. just wanted to chime in about how much i enjoyed being over there (went twice to germany, austria, switzerland, and lichtenstein). I went with some people from school several years back and had a blast. Hope to go back when I finally save up enough money XD
