I was shocked at how many teams passed on Sam young and DeJuan Blair and now they're dropping 20+ point games in preseason..........

a lot of teams are gonna regret letting these guys drop to the second round

One more thing Memphis needs a big time coach because this team has so much talent it's Insane.......... check out all this talent

C - H Thabeet, PF-C - M Gasol, PF Z Randolph, SF - Sam Young, SF - R Gay, SG - OJ Mayo, PG - Conley Jr

give it some time, its too early to tell but i do think they were very good values by the teams that got them.

memphis does have a lot of talent but the front office has no idea how to put together a team. Iverson and Randolph were horrible pick ups, they are both black holes that will take away from the development of the youngsters.

NBA teams obviously suck at evaluating talent considering they always draft these europe players that never make it into the leauge.

Memphis is talented offensively, but with the lack of chemistry I believe they are still a top 10 lottery pick. In a few years, this team will probably own that division.

And this is from a Rockets fan.

As for evaluating talent, The NBA (more than the NFL) is based on what they could be, not what they are right now. Dajuan Blair and Sam Young has limited upside and thats why they feel to the second round, that not saying they are not good players though, cause both are gunna be great this year for there teams.

European players, actually international players in general, are big risks that are occasionally big rewards.

Big rewards: Pau Gasol, Peja Stojakovic, Rudy Fernandes

Epic flop: Darko, Yi Jianlian, Ricky Rubio

Yao Ming too.

The NBA draft is weird because there is virtually no talent in it. A draft class is considered amazing if it produces 3 or 4 star players and there is a massive difference in the skill level between say the 1st and 10th pick in a draft.

Dirk?
Manu?
Tony Parker?
Nene?
Jose Calderon?

There are a ton of good international players... Rubio is not a flop yet, he hasn't played here yet, and he will come in 2011 probably.

Andres Nocioni has been pretty good, not a star but a solid role player, same thing w/ Toni Kukoc
