I was actually a little bit surprised on the last Vikings drive, before the PI, he restrained himself from throwing down the WR after the whistle. But yes he sucks.
What a way to lose, there really is a lot to complain about. Obviously Hauschka missed the field goal, but the defense continues to give up the big play.
At least Ray Rice is awesome.
Oh and are you going to make a "Baltimore Ravens" thread? I feel like you are the one who should create it if you want.

We didn't blitz at all early in the game. I think that is our main problem.

Agreed. The title to this thread fits more in the main forum than this sub forum.

Well every Baltimore fan probably is a member of the fan club so it doesn't really matter

Can't we just make this the Baltimore Ravens thread. It's 10 times more fun.

Sure, there's no rule imposed by Walter that says what the team threads should be called. It seems Ravens' fans know this is their team thread. :)

Sounds good.
Anyway, another tough loss that could have been a win, and plenty of things to figure out. Webb needs to be on the field more, that's for sure. And as PP said we need to blitz more/just get more pressure on the QB. This week was a strange situation because we were down for most of the game and Minnesota has a very good run defense, but I want to get back to running the ball. Rice still averaged 7.7 yards per rush today and I thought a couple runs he was inches away from breaking bigger gains. Running the ball worked last year, I don't see any reason it wouldn't work this year.

So is anyone else kinda bored right now? The bye week sucks.

The thing that sucks most about this bye week is that it seems so much harder to make the playoffs now than it did last week :(

Any thoughts on the Broncos game? Personally I am still not sold on them, and I still think we are better, we just need to sort out the pass defense. I don't like how Vegas and the public are backing us and doubting them, especially considering the past three games.

I can't believe Frank Walker is still playing in the NFL. I watched him get burnt numerous times while playing with the Giants, and he wouldn't stop talking **** either. He's just atrocious in coverage and has never done anything positive for any of the franchises he's played for.

With a Bye week and some defensive adjustments, I think we will wint he game. I think it helps the most that Denver has a much less explosive offense than the ones we have lost to. The only thing im worried about is their offensive line. Its a good line, and we have to find a way to put pressure. If we can put pressure on Orton, we will win the game. I have confidence than out offense will match them in terms of points

Mattison thinks the NFL is like college....
and I REAAALLY miss Rex Ryan
His schemes helped us disguise our weaknesses, while Mattison's highlight ours (lack of good passrushers or good corners)

Some notes on the Broncos game:
-Frank walker was inactive. looks like maybe he is in the doghouse? kind of strange that he was inactive because of his special teams play.
-Lardarius Webb is awesome
-I really liked going back to the 3-4 and doing 4-3 every once in a while. diguising blitzes finally made us look like the ravens defense of old.
-Ray Rice is also awesome, but we already knew that
-Notice how when we have had Jared Gaither in the lineup, we are 4-0. When he goes out for injury, we are 0-3. He is one of the most important players on our team right now. We need to resign him.
-I want to see Kruger!

Really good game today, we dominated and it could have even been worse - Suggs and Johnson both dropped interceptions. Special teams looked really good, kickoff coverage was excellent. Really good to see the pass D get sorted out (4.1 YPA), because next week is a huge game now.

Today sucked. The Bengals outplayed us, particularly Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph. They had really good games and kept making plays on balls where I thought Flacco made very good throws. Flacco had a few bad ones, but not many - the first pick he wayyyyy underthrew the deep ball, not sure how that happened, but the second one Clayton needed to make a better play on the ball. Defense played poorly the first quarter but very well the last three, but offense couldn't really do anything outside of the one scoring drive. We're in a tough spot now.
It seems like I am talking to myself. I know there are other Ravens fans on this forum, what gives?

Yesterday was just embarrasing. The team just played flat the entire time in a must-win game. That is something that is reflected from coaching. I love Harbaugh, but he has GOT to find a way to motivate them better. I could tell in the pre-game intros that we were going to lose. Ray Lewis was giving his typical pump up thing and everyone was just like "bleh"
Poor play in the secondary (although that got better later, but jesus Ochocinco raped us in the beginning), poor D-line play (losing ngata hurt), and penalties just destroyed us (penalties are also reflecting on the coaching staff...).
On the bright side: Lardarius Webb is doing absolutely great. He played in relief of Fabian Washington and he played like a beast.

Yeah he did play very well, including helping against the run. Certainly made the most of the opportunity.

Lardarius Webb likely out for the year
PuppyPuncher
01-01-2010, 09:13 PM
Which is the bigger need for next year in your mind?
If the CBA talks fail, Fabian Washington and Mark Clayton are coming back. Derrick Mason is likely gone and I mean... I hope there is no way that Frank Walker gets resigned. Oh and Chris Carr still exists... I guess.
Lardarius Webb will still be there and Domonique Foxworth has looked a lot better, but having said that I'd rather have Vivica A. Foxworth as a nickelback.
At WR, Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams as projected starters?

Well corner and receiver are definitely the biggest needs, and I think it will depend on how the draft goes as to what we select. If Donovan Warren falls to us I think we take him, if not we go with a receiver. It seems to me there is very good top talent at corner (Haden, Warren), good late first round talent at receiver, and then good second round talent for corner and receiver. So basically if one of those top corners are available, we jump on the opportunity.
I do think another possibility could be DE though, since Pryce is old and only has one year left on his contract anyway. It all depends on what happens in the draft, Ozzie will get good draft value, positional value, and since we have a few options, a position of need.

So ... now what? What does everyone think is in store for the Ravens this offseason?
I think Reed will definitely be back, he was just upset after the loss and that he fumbled the interception. Mason I'm not so sure though, he really is getting up there, and to be honest, I think it might even be an okay thing for Flacco if Mason retired. Mason has been great, but Flacco depends (stares him down) too much. If the Ravens were to bring in new receivers in the draft, he might be forced to learn to go through his reads and spread the ball around.
