New England at Carolina.

Game is on 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

No Tom Brady tonight.

Panthers favored by 1. I like them tonight.

Mark
08-24-2007, 03:46 PM
I'll be here for this.

It's too bad Brady isn't playing, otherwise it would've been an interesting 2-3 quarters.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:09 PM
Turns out Brady will start. There was doubt after his child was born, and the line even moved from Patriots -2 to Panthers -2. But Brady made it. Not sure how long he'll play.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:09 PM
Drew Carter drops another pass. He had a key drop last week. I can't see Carter hanging on to the No. 2 spot much longer.

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:10 PM
I think Jarrett gets the number 2 spot, he might as well. Colbert and Carter haven't done anything productive this preseason.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:12 PM
Colbert might even get cut. It was Carter's job to lose, but he's dropped too many passes.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:13 PM
Three straight runs for the Pats?

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:14 PM
Good to see Dan Morgan out there. When he is healthy, he is a great player to have on the field.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:14 PM
True, but his health is the big issue. It's a shame, but he can't seem to stay on the field.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:16 PM
Woo Panther cheerleaders. Wonder if any of them got busy before the game.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:19 PM
J.P. Losman just threw a 64-yard touchdown to Lee Evans.

Matt McGuire
08-24-2007, 07:20 PM
Damn, no food places on campus open (I took a nap)...gonna have to walk 15 min to get to my car. Drive to Qdoba, then come back....oh well I'll watch 1st quarter first.

Anyways, Panthers with a surprise victory tonight imo. I'm feeling it.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:20 PM
Love Qdoba.

I used to hate that... the good food places would always close before 8 at Penn State. Drove me crazy.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:22 PM
Who are Taylor/BOWNES? LOL

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:23 PM
Guess Brady's not prepared for the game. 5 runs by NE.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:25 PM
Six for six runs. Doesn't look like the Patriots have a thorough gameplan.

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:25 PM
The Colts will no longer be tied with the Panthers with the duo of sacks. Unless Rucker finds the fountain of youth, he's done after this season.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:26 PM
Patriots going for it on 4th-and-1 on their own 25???

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:27 PM
They got it. Unbelievable. Carolina should have put 11 men in the box. I don't think Brady's going to throw anytime soon.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:32 PM
Patriots exposing this weak defense. Getting very ugly.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:35 PM
This drive started at the 9:45 mark

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:36 PM
Patriots field goal after Ben Watson dropped the ball.

3-0

Drive lasted 9 minutes, 43 seconds. Wow.

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:36 PM
At least they held them to a field goal. Lets see is Delhomme can respond.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:39 PM
As a Panthers fan, how much does Delhomme worry you? Do you think John Fox should have a quick hook?

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:43 PM
Love how Steve Smith got up right away after a big hit from Rodney Harrison.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:45 PM
Go for it!!!!

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:45 PM
Yeah, good job, John Fox.

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:49 PM
He does worry me, based on his inconsistency and the way he tries to force the ball. He didn't take any shots down field either. I don't think it was totally on him last year, the offense line wasn't the greatest. Justin Hartwig played in two games, Travelle Wharton (who I've never been a big fan of), was out for the year, and Evan Mathis was in his first year starting. If Delhomme struggles this season, you have to get rid of him. He has had his moment in the sun, much like Kurt Warner.

I'm liking what I'm seeing from Jeff King, he has had a pretty good preseason.

And I could tell that field goal was going to be blocked. Did you see how much penetration the Pats got?

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:51 PM
That penetration was sick. Not sure why Fox didn't go for it, especially after the Patriots did deep in their own territory.

I've never been a big fan of Wharton either. The offensive line definitely needs help.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:53 PM
How good is Wes Welker?

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:54 PM
Touchdown, Patriots. Too easy.

10-0 New England

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:55 PM
Panthers defense is in shambles! They can't tackle and they can't defend the the pass!

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:57 PM
I'll never understand why Carolina's return specialist is a fullback.

Walter
08-24-2007, 07:58 PM
Panthers defense is in shambles! They can't tackle and they can't defend the the pass!

Yeah, and the Patriots don't even have their best weapon.

Mark
08-24-2007, 07:58 PM
Why isn't Ryne Robinson returning kicks?

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:00 PM
What is up with David Carr's hairdo?

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:01 PM
Why isn't Ryne Robinson returning kicks?

Same reason Carolina can't catch the ball.

No idea.

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:02 PM
What I wouldn't do to still have Muhammad with the Panthers!

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:09 PM
Here's another long drive by New England.

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:09 PM
Cover somebody! Holy crap! How did John Fox let this defense get so bad?

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:11 PM
That's a shame- the Panthers finally got a nice stop, and it doesn't even count.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:14 PM
To tell you the truth, I'd rather have 2nd-and-13 than a 3rd-and-1 a bit further away from the end zone.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:16 PM
Remember the 2003 season when the Panthers blocked all those field goals? That seems light years away.

Let's see if Carolina can do anything with a minute left on the clock.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:18 PM
Keary Colbert! What speed. So much for him getting cut!

10-7 Patriots

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:19 PM
Patriots blocked the kick again, wow.

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:20 PM
Yeah that was a great run after the catch by Colbert, I didn't think he would get it.

Egg
08-24-2007, 08:23 PM
Nice blocking by Steve Smith otherwise that wouldn't have been a TD. Both of New England's safeties looked stupid trying to make diving tackles.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:24 PM
Halftime. I still think Carolina wins this.

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:25 PM
Vince Young looks sharp against the Bills. So does Kerry Collins. LenDale White running well. Roydell Williams looking good at receiver.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:36 PM

I think the Titans beat Jacksonville in Week 1 if Leftwich starts.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:37 PM
I'd take Brady out of the game right about now. No need to keep him in.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:38 PM
Brady looks like he's playing against high-schoolers.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:41 PM
Yeah, that's a touchdown.

17-7 Patriots

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:42 PM
Panthers defense is a joke. Ken Lucas got embarrassed.

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:45 PM
Here is my prediction for the Panthers this season: 6-10.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:50 PM
Yeah, I had them at 10-6, I believe. That's definitely way off.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:50 PM
Colbert almost made another great reception.

This is going against him!?

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:51 PM
OK yeah, good call.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:54 PM
Big catch by Drew Carter! Converted 3rd-and-20, unbelievable.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:56 PM
Steve Smith is furious, and I would be too.

Walter
08-24-2007, 08:56 PM
Another blocked field goal! Horrible!

Mark
08-24-2007, 08:57 PM
This is Delhomme's problem. You see how when the pocket is collapsing, he floats the ball out in the air like that?

Walter
08-24-2007, 09:01 PM
Heath Evans is a Pro Bowler against the Panthers.

Walter
08-24-2007, 09:04 PM
Why are the Panthers still blitzing at this point?

Walter
08-24-2007, 09:05 PM
Cassel loses the handle and still gets in the end zone.

24-7 Pats.

Mark
08-24-2007, 09:06 PM
This is just too much for me to handle.

Mark
08-24-2007, 09:09 PM
I'm smelling a David Carr comeback.

Mark
08-24-2007, 09:13 PM
And he's sacked on third down.

Walter
08-24-2007, 09:20 PM
I'm smelling a David Carr comeback.

I hope so. Let's hope Belichick doesn't keep his starting defense on the field again.

Walter
08-24-2007, 09:30 PM
Carr picked off, thanks to pressure. Game's essentially over.

Mark
08-24-2007, 09:30 PM
Well thats just fantastic.

Mark
08-24-2007, 09:46 PM
Eric Shelton was a wasted pick a few years ago.

Walter
08-24-2007, 09:53 PM
Yeah, he hasn't produced much. Can't hit all your picks I guess.

Mark
08-24-2007, 10:09 PM
Well Walt, I'm going to head out, later man.

Matt McGuire
08-24-2007, 10:13 PM
I think the Titans beat Jacksonville in Week 1 if Leftwich starts.

The Titans are going to fail to put up 10 points on that defense. Jacksionville wins 17-9.

Matt McGuire
08-24-2007, 10:19 PM
Eric Shelton was a wasted pick a few years ago.

Yeah. He reminds me of Michael Bush coming out as a prospect w/o the injury. Louisville players are just spoiled by a great OL against weaker defenses in a great offensive scheme.

Hard to deny though that Bush is a much better athlete than Shelton, so we will see. Still good value in R4 for the Raiders

Walter
08-24-2007, 10:50 PM

I disagree. I think Vince Young can get his team (or at least himself) into the end zone at least once.

I disagree. Jacksonville is going to spy VY the entire game. Their DBs can take care of the WRs and the DL will constantly get pressure.

Put the 2 LBers in zone coverage, and then the Titans offense is completely shut down.

Grind it out in the running game with MJD and Taylor, and this game is in the books. Give VY few oppotunities.

This game could be a blowout imo.

Walter
08-25-2007, 12:30 AM
Jaguars don't have the offensive capability to blow anyone out. Titans will stack the line, Jags won't be able to do anything.

I strongly advise you to check out the Titans-Bills game. The stats don't do Young justice. He was INCREDIBLE.
