the idea is that for Atlanta, I get a guy who while unhappy in Carolina, and kind of an injury risk is still worth a 3rd round pick, and will be my NT in the 4-3 next to Rod Coleman and with Abraham and Anderson on the ends. and he will be rotating with Trey Lewis.

at OT Travelle Wharton is worth IMO a 4th and will eb a solid starter at RT till I groom a draft pick.

and at RB, I need a guy who can play snaps with Norwood and I see Foster as him. and I value him as a 3rd as well, and since they have DeAngelo Williams, they don't really need him, where I think he can be the workhorse (225-250 carries) and Norwood the COP (125-150 carries).

for him, idk his reasoning other than Wharton isn't that great at LT, and he already has Gross at RT, Jenkins is unhappy there, and Foster is in kind of a logjam at RB there.

Atlanta's picking up a lot of salary, and Carolina would get hit with a lot of cap penalties. I don't think something like this would ever happen.

what about Buffalo?
they've taken on a lot of salary too. amd Atlanta will have upwards of 30M after getting rid of Vick and some others this offseason.

I think this is a very very fair trade. I'm not going to nitpick and say that Atlanta should throw in a 6th rounder.

Plus Atlanta gave up a very high 2nd round pick. Great trade. Big trade. Well managed and both sides get what they want. Impressive.

bills, what about the guys you traded? You have to pay a % of everyone's signing bonus.

ok, hold on, I have nearly 25M in cap room as is. getting Jenkins is like 5 of it, Wharton is like 500K, and Foster is like 1M, I would be fine in terms of salary.

scar988

EASports

After walter bringing to light the cap issues with this trade, I voted no.

Aren't the Falcons gaining like $10mil though for Vick's contract?

Voted yes initially, but I've also just realised the cap issues. I'd like to unofficially change my vote to no.

Walter

its 14-12 yes now. how did it go from 13-13 to 14-12?

I smells me a rat.

regoob2

I could see this happening, Carolina is rebuilding and could lose these guys anyway and there getting an early 2nd for them. I couldn't see how Carolina could afford to keep these guys.

scar988
01-08-2008, 03:44 PM
and Atlanta after cutting Vick will have upwards of 20 M in cap and after losing Dunn it would bring us to around 23.5

Matt McGuire
01-08-2008, 03:59 PM
That should do it...trade should be approved imo, not everyone will vote.

scar988
01-08-2008, 04:05 PM
yes, please just approve it!

Voted yes initially, but I've also just realised the cap issues. I'd like to unofficially change my vote to no.

This is why it went from 14-12 to 13-13.

I feel like this is the 2000 election.

regoob2
01-08-2008, 05:05 PM
I don't think we have more than 26 opinions that really matter lol, so I think it should go through.

scar988

cap issues? there are no cap issues. Atlanta cutting Vick like I did would allow us the cap room to complete it alone add in the fact I got rid of 3.5 in Dunn and I get even more cap room to complete this trade. Cap is not an issue here.

Walter
01-08-2008, 06:57 PM
It's more dead money than anything else. If you cut or trade players, you get hit with salary cap penalties. That's why the Titans had to cut so many good players three years ago.

scar988
01-08-2008, 07:31 PM
oh so not on my end but his. idk Carolina
s cap situation. bvut can't be too bad if they were looking at trading JEnkins already

scar988
01-09-2008, 03:05 PM
alright, Walter, just give us a definitive yes or no. if it's a no we can work out somthign better in the end cool?

Walter
01-09-2008, 05:49 PM
Travelle Wharton is a free agent, isn't he? That's what rotoworld.com says.

Kris Jenkins signed an extension through 2009.

scar988
01-09-2008, 05:54 PM
hmmm... good point... Wharton is a UFA. I can';t believe I didn't cath that myself.
