Just got it installed today.

I wonder if the Draft will be in HD (ESPN and NFLN) ...mouth watering :) :) :) :) :) :)

Anyways, it's not all great. Can't they just black out John Clayton's ugly head when he talks? Seriously this guy needs a complete makeover, if possible (queer eye for straight guy lolz)

I'm a little older than you guys, so I've been fortunate to have been able to build in my basement a 24 foot square home theater with a 106" projection system with HD. Bar included. Anybody coming to Michigan anytime soon can PM me for an invite.

I live down there and I have spent the last three drafts watching it from there. It's awesome, but I can't wait the five years or so for 1080i and Dolby 7.1. Right now, ESPN and TNT have the best HD.

As far as I know Panasonic released their 150 inch tv at CES just a few days ago.

Wow are you serious...that's amazing. I heard some TV company is making 2160p. That would be so sick.

Don't have HD theres point yet, at least here anyway. Very few channels and the TVs are pretty expensive, so I'm prepared to wait. Infact although my current TV is a widescreen it is 'HD ready' but I just use it in SD.

It doesn't matter if nobody broadcasts any better than 720i.

Is there a list that says what broadcasts are 720i/p and 1080i/p?

I'd appreciate it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p#720p_versus_1080i

I stand corrected, but the current 1080i is not optimal.

My understanding is that it's much harder to film in high definition than standard definition (and look good). I think you need much better light, or big heavy lenses and cameras. Also, unless you sit 3 feet away from your tv, for a 2160p tv to perform as it should, you'd need at least a 100" tv, maybe more.

At the moment, most sports cameras (at least in aus) are 720p at the very most. So, I dunno, I just don't see it happening for a very long time, and even when it does, it'll probably be only for very specific content.

What amuses me most about HDTV is that the US is transferring from 480 horizontal lines to 720 (as I said 90+% of HDTV is only 720P) an increase of 50%, whereas in australia and other PAL countries we're merely going from 576 to 720, a much smaller perceptive change.

The Economist actually ran an article about this a year or so ago, where they reported that countries that ran on NTSC (480) were much higher uptakers of HDTV than their PAL counterparts.

Nevertheless, I can't wait until my aus pay tv country activates their HDTV service (later this year, and hopefully in time for the 2008 season).
