I think Walter Football should have a draft magizine that people could buy.
What do you guys think??

I think it is a great idea bulldog, but Walter and I have a lot more work to do to get the site bigger and those thoughts are in development...such as a podcast.

Plus, I don't think the costs of making a magazine outweight the sales (or are worth all of the work it would take) and there are already tons of draft mags we would have to compete with.

It's a good idea, and maybe in 2-3 years it could happen but like the saying goes "Rome was not built in a day" :)

one way to get funding is if someone sponsers you.

Are you offering to sponser WalterFootball.com?

You could just have the Draft Magizine over the internet and have people buy or for free and they print it out if they want to.

You could make it available via PDF for a couple of bucks. That way, you wouldn't have to bind it, print it, find a publisher, etc.

You're not the first to suggest that. People have come to me and asked to make a new sports magazine that would cover the draft, picking games, and every sport...

Like Matt said though, we need more traffic before anything. 2-3 years down the road I would definitely look into it.

No no no no.... The saying goes: "Rome was not built in Norway". ;)

Anyway, I think the magazine idea, or during the years before that, the PDF idea is great. It would be really handy to be able to download some sort of "Final prospect guide" when the combine is done.

I'm still waiting for the podcast :)

Also you guys have to consider how hard it would be to compete with all the other more popular draft mags.

I just don't think it is a profitable idea.

Again, PDF is the answer. No binding, no publishing, it saves so much money.

Yes Candyman, you can have a page ;). Seriously, I would like that.

Hooray! I could have a page where I do nothing but make fun of KClemmens08 and the Jets

Putting together a mag is much harder than you'd think. I won't go into detail.

Matt McGuire

Oh no it is easy for everyone on this forum...they just dream it and it makes thousands.

LOL, yeah. I still think PDF is possible. That said, we should probably increase our size (and get a podcast (pretty please)) before we try a mag.

Type it on word, then link it like NewEra (This might be a PDF like 9er is talking about but IDK)

You can type it in word, then export to PDF. I don't buy many guides, so IDK if NewEra does it this way.

The main ****ing problem I have with this dumb ****ing idea, is that it really wouldn't be so different from what we (walter and I) put on the site anyways.

So shut up about it already. I'm being honest here and someone needs to be. Shut up about the ****ing magazine. It will never ****ing happen and more importantly Walter doesn't need it to happen. Ask him, running a ****ing website is hectic enough and a dumb ****ing draft magazing wouldn't be very profitable.

Most Draft Mags I read really suck anyways. Full of information, but that information is very very incorrect. What Walter and I say on the site is different because we take a different approach and quite frankly a mag will just be more of the same of what we do. I'd rather us just charge premium membership. There, there is your ****ing magazine. We will charge you to read the material you read for free now. Happy?

I agree it won't happen this year or in the next couple of years most likely. However, brainstorming is never bad. And admire Walter for all the work he puts into the forums and the main site.

How many times can you say ****ing in 1 post? god damn

No you don't have all the stuff that would be in a ****ing mag. You don't have ****ing player profiles. Walt has a little write up about each ****ing player. Matt has ****ing 29 and all but 3 are old as ****ing hell.
You guys don't have ****ing team needs. etc, etc. Also NewEra is free = Kick ****ing a$$.

Okay I got that off my chest.
I'm not saying you need or should have a mag, and I love the site.

Not really sure why people discussing this should be pissing anyone off. I think this is a harmless idea that wouldn't come to fruition anytime soon. You would need a much much bigger fanbase IMO to make decent profits (depending on how long and good it is) worth the time you put in. But it doesn't hurt to dream.

I doubt it. With everthing online, why buy a mag? They should just stay online for now.

I buy multiple draft magazines. I read them in bed or while travelling in a car/bus etc or on the toilet lol
