I would love to see another Forum Mock with the same GM's without trades. See how we stack up to the real NFL GM's come draft day. See if our picks are as on Target as the real life counterparts. That would be cool.

Agreed - and I can post it on the actual site.

I don't think so. One is enough for this time...he will change things up and do another forum mock in like 2-2.5 months from now.

Agreed, and I'm adding a poll.

Matt you killjoy. I would love to test my drafting skills against that of Phil Savage. Dont you think you are as good as the Bucs' GM?

lol you guys have no idea how hard it would be to be a GM of a real NFL team...if you want to know what it is like read the book "The GM" forgot author but a great read.

I've heard of that book, I'll go get it from my library eventually.

I think that this first attempt at having a mock draft was a good learning experience for all. I think it became a bit of a mess, but now we know what to do to make things roll smoother.

Start over, check to make sure all of the GM's are around and on board, and then let's see if we can't complete seven rounds in a month or so.

We need set rules this time. Every team who does not have an active GM will need to be replaced. A set in stone time limit, I still don't know much time we have on weekdays and weekends.

Also, for trades, can we still trade up or down in the draft? But, not have any players in the trade?

I agree with the consenus, restart.

Can never have to many mocks.

Matt McGuire

How about we just do the first 2 rounds for this one...then start another one over with only 1 trade max per person instead of no trades?

bulldog0123

first 3 rds

I like first 2.

Feels that we might mock draft ourselves to death.

My two cents? Finish this, if nothing else to find out how long time it takes (so we know to the next one), then do one two weeks (or how much time it now takes) before the real draft and do only allow pick for pick trades. That eay we we won't have to have a lot of trading polls and we will also see what free agency has done to the teams.

Let's do 2/3 rounds of this, whatever. When we do a trade-free draft (at least after the combine) have a time-limit set in stone. I was thinking, at least, 8 picks a day/night, 1 hour limit. And PM Walter, or the mod, the list of your top 8 when its your day to draft in case something happens. We could get through 3 rounds in 2 weeks then, no problems.

Well the voting is pretty close. Seems like it would have to be an overwhelming yes to do it since we kind of need everyone to agree so we have all the teams in use again.

i agree with that. a simple majority will not be what we need here.

So we will keep going, but for how long?

starqb14
01-19-2008, 05:45 PM
3 rounds, unless it goes so well that we want to do more.

see, if everyone sends walter their top choices, we could do a half round in a single day.

it could really get to be a lot for him, what with guys changing and stuff if they feel like it, but he's the boss and could delegate some of that too.

I would help coordinate all that. BTW, Philadelphia is on the clock with about an hour left.

We'll get a really good infracstructure in the forums in the next week imo...this forum mock was definately a learning experience.

Defiantly, and I like bills_red's suggestion to make their be an experience limit, or else we get problems like the ones we had this time with the Rams and Cardinals.

of course you're on board you just got here yesterday. we're having a minimum post requirement for GMs. so stick around if you're really interested.

You're actually pretty far back, but thanks for showing up. You may not pick until tomarrow, but be prepared.

I might take you up on that. I have read enough books on NFL, NCAA, and NBA head and Assistant coaches I have a good idea on the coaching. I would like to see on the GM though.

Yes GridIron you need every pick and your Defense should be decent this year if you use them wisely.
