Now that the season is over this is what I want to see. 1st thing keep Jeff Ireland I think he is a solid GM and a great talent scout. Sparano I am iffy on I like him and wouldn't mind keeping for 1 more year but if we do let him go then they better get a top coach like Cowher or Gruden. Resign Paul Solia and Ritchie Incognito Give Cameron Wake an extension then trade Channing Crowder and 1 of Miami's DEs they have alot as it is and needs a 2nd round pick. Go after Kyle Orton and with the 1st round pick Draft Mark Ingram. As far as OC's Josh McDaniel's or Tom Cable if the raiders do let him go Childress is also out there.
Whats would the other Phin fans like to see.

They need to resign or cut bait with Sparano. HCs with 1 year left on a contract isn't what a forward thinking franchise does, it just shows indecisiveness.
I don't think McDaniels and Marshall could coexist, but mostly from Marshall's perspective.
QB is a big question mark, this team needs an identity.

Lets see what happens with Sperano first, it's clear that the team has given up on him, but it's been his inability to inspire the team when we're the better team in games. We only show up as underdogs imo. He's a good coach and makes very good adjustments, but the Dolphins just don't seem to respond unless we're the underdogs. Chad Henne is as good as gone. I don't care who supports him and says he needs an extra year. Right now what you see from him now, is what your going to see from him for the next 6-7 years. We can't from this point have him as our QB because the team doesn't respond to him. Our offseason should almost entirely be spent on offense because we have question marks at every position except WR and OT. The defense is fine, but we could use an upgrade at CB since Benny Sapp is not good, and Sean Smith can't catch(or tackle for that matter)

As far as OT's Jake Long is still the man and could be the best in the league but Vernon Carey I dont know what happen this year but he fell back

He signed a pretty big contract and is the least of our problems. He stays this year

Yeah i doubt he goes anywhere and if he does struggle Miami gets Nate Garner back next year.

I would say RB, QB, C, CB, TE.
RB- Ronnie and Ricky are both gone that leaves Cobbs, Hilliard, and Sheets.
QB- Pennington will retire I think Thigpen is a free agent and Henne just confuses me he shows good play and the horrible maybe with a new OC he gets better.
C- Berger is just not good. They could move Incognito or Garner there and I think the o_line is set LT Long LG Garner C Incognito RG Jerry RT Carey and McQuiston can play T and G
CB- Sean Smith has gotten better but can we go into another season hoping he gets it. Carroll and Sapp can play Nickel and Dime. I dont know Sapps Contract status.
TE- Fasano is all we have need depth
I'm not worried about FS right now Clemons and Jones looked good at times. ILB we still have Dobbins and Edds and I liked Micah Johnson in preseason. Guards are solid once Garner gets back

I want to know a few things:
Who chose Henne, and how much say did Sparano have in that choice?
Is the team not quitting on Sparano but rather on the offense/Henning/Henne?

Idk the first one, but I'm interested in the 2nd question, I think after the defense saw Henne wasn't going to lead us anywhere they gave up, and it doesn't help that the Patriots have one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Sapp isn't good, and I like the line but I wouldn't mind adding depth. If we got everything down like that, then maybe we can focus on our RB needs,

Exactly, last year the Raiders did not quit on Cable, but on JaMarcus. If Marshall is speaking for a large portion of the team recently (which he may very well), then it is pretty decided that the team has no confidence in Henne (who needs to figure out what leadership is one of these days). Recall that no one was near Henne after each failed offensive series and when Thiggy came in, he was chatting with the offense to see where things have gone wrong.

Giving up shouldn't be in any NFL players mind, no matter the circumstances. Defenses have carried inferior offenses forever. That's on Sparano to not let that happen.

14 points is too much of a barrier for the Fins offense to overcome, lol.

Well the first couple of drives for the Pats we were hanging with them. We were contaning Tom Brady for a nice while and even forced a turnover(first for the Pats in forever), but as usual our offense drove down the field but couldn't punch it in and Carpenter missed the FG(no reason a K should have to kick it 41 times in one season). Once that happened I think everyone on the sideline knew the game was over. Sperano decided to put Thigpen and see what how the team would respond, and while we didn't score, you could see the guys on the sideline discussing things with Thigpen. With Henne the offense is just stagnant and the offense looks dead. Our defense once the game was 14-0 dropped dead and gave up. Dansby no playing also had something to do with it because Crowder/Dobbins is awful

The Dolphins are going to target speed on offense in the offseason. They are dying to recoup the 2nd rounder they traded for Brandon Marshall. I wouldn't be shocked to see them trade way down with Denver to pick up their two 2nd rounders. I'm pretty sure they are targeting RB DeAngelo Williams which would mean the people mocking Mark Ingram to them in Round 1 are going to have to re-evaluate.
JoeLegend
02-13-2011, 07:54 PM
Players I have heard Miami targetting this offseason have been Deangelo Williams and Kyle Orton. I would be happy with both the the trade I had in mind is now gone since the Broncos will change back to a 4-3 D. I thought trading Starks and Merling for Orton and a 2nd might have worked. Also I am very excited to see that some how the Dolphins are the leading canidates to land Nnamdi Asomugha. Just think Vonta and Nnamdi man what a pass D with Misi and Wake rushing the edge.
cullen2k1
02-13-2011, 08:07 PM
I would obviously love to land Asomugha but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Miami went almost exclusively with defense in the 2010 draft. This year I would not be shocked to see them do the opposite.

we only need a few spots on offense. QB only in the 1st round though if they dont get a big 1st round QB I can see Miami go with Henne 1 more year. Mark Ingram is who i really want I think he will make a instant impact in the NFL. Center and TE are other positions but they can be addressed in the 3rd and 4th round.

Miami doesn't have any home run hitters on offense. They have to be perfect to keep their drives going which leads to yet another Dan Carpenter appearance. That was the one good thing about Ted Ginn. The only speed guy they have right now is Marlon Moore and the kid has worse hands than Ginn.
JoeLegend
02-13-2011, 08:26 PM
I miss Ginn to people underestimated what he did for instance by Ginn leaving it hurt the running game. Ginn being on the field cuz of his speed made the safeties play back so when Brown and Williams broke through the DL and LBs they had got another 5-10 yards. But without Ginn the safeties played up and the Brown and Williams had to fight for yards.

Definitely, plus Ginn was a bona fide Jets killer. He taught me a very valuable lesson in Fantasy Football which is not to be scared of Revis versus guys with blazing speed. I played Mike Wallace against them in the fantasy playoffs and his 100 yards were the difference for me.
Is it just me, or does it seem like Sparano has to be getting tired of juggling his interior OL? That is supposed to be his position of expertise.

I am tired of it but if they resign Nate Garner and Incognito I think we could have a solid O-Line. Give Jerry another year at RG move Garner to LG and Incognito to C

The 'phins are definitely in the running for the worst drafting team of the past 5 seasons. Hopefully they can change that in 2011. Looking at the draft in your signature, it looks like you are also fed up with Channing Crowder. He might be the most average ILB in the league.

I think the Dolphins have done a solid drafting look at all the starters they have. They get a bad rep for drafting Pat White which I hated but even all the experts had them taking him. I am fed up with Crowder but not cuz of his play I am cuz of Injuries and his mouth.

2008 thru 2010 has been better but 2003-2007 were atrocious. I would argue that the roster grew so weak during the middle part of the decade that it would have been easy for anyone to draft starters.

yeah just look at are roster we have I think 4 players before Ireland got here. Crowder and Brown on there way out. Y Bell he is staying and Pual Solia please resign. I forgot Vernon Carey as well.

Well Vernon Carey... I will always remember how Miami traded up one spot to draft him when Minnesota snookered them. I think the pick they gave away ended up being Mewelde Moore. That is in my top 5 of frustrating Dolphins draft moments.

Hey guys. I just want to introduce myself. I am KWDOLFAN2010. My real name is Travis. I have been a Miami fan my whole life. I do mock drafts and sports writing through a few Dolphin fan clubs on Facebook. I am a fan of the Dolphins & Hurricanes. I live in Key West, FL and I will also be coming to this site often due to the idiots on other boards knowing nothing. I do have a friend within the Miami organization who gives me scoops from time to time. A lot around draft time. I am going to UCF to get my degree in Journalism so I can become a sports writer. So thats me and I look forward to being cool with all of you....
GO PHINS!!

Bringing this thread back.
Haven't really followed the Dolphins but am finally going to start doing so now
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/09/deangelo-williams-has-interest-in-dolphins/
I would love this as long as we didn't have to overpay. With that we could still trade down, draft Pouncey and I still wouldn't rule out drafting a RB in round 2 because how fragile Williams is known to be.
Williams/LeShoure would be awsome and adding a Guard would give us one of the best running games in football.
All a pipe dream but something to consider and hope for.

Yes it would be huge. Williams would be a huge upgrade and now that we have a OC that will run the ball Miami can get back on track.

It certanly is not the big name OC we wanted but yeah should be way better. Cant wait to see. Can you imagine Miami's offense with Brandon Marshall, Devone Bess, and DeAngelo Williams. No way Henne could mess that up.

It doesn't make our offense all that potent. Williams is injury prone and we still need someone across Marshall who can stretch the field. Even drafting a TE like DJ Williams would help a lot.

I wouldn't mind getting a faster WR to stretch the field as long as they trade Hartline and dont get Torrey Smith in the 1st. I know Miami wants Sproles as well.

The most we'd get for Hartline is maybe a 4th-5th. I don't know why everyone is so ready to trade him but if we can get a downfield threat I'm all for it.
Sproles would be decent but I'd rather go for my pipedream, plus he wasn't all that expolsive this year from what I recall.

I was saying D Will and Sproles. The reason why I would like to get rid of Hartline is just to get something out of him. If Miami gets a speed WR to play opposite of Marshall then that bumps Hartline to #4 WR. He is a decent #2 or slot WR and teams would give up something to get him. I think a 3rd or late 2nd maybe. Miami got a 2nd for Wes Welker which at the time was our slot WR and was not as good as he is now or I guess you can say not used right. I would also like to see what Miami can get for Randy Starks or Kendall Langford. Since Solia is gonna be the starting NT.

"This is a place I'd like to live," Williams indicated. "I hope I'm at the top of their list and they come after me."
The Dolphins may make two additions to their RB stable this offseason, as head coach Tony Sparano confirmed at the league meetings that they are interested in adding a scatback to the mix as well. Current UFA (regardless of the labor outcome) Darren Sproles has been cited as a possible signing in that role.
Just thought you may wanna see this MDF 4 life. its on ESPN insider.
