How funny... I've always been fascinated by this case. I've seen pretty much every A&E 'Cold Case Files', etc., show ever done on it. I think I even remember seeing a cheesy 80's movie with Treat Williams as Cooper.
Personally, I'd like to think he survived the jump. There was one guy who claimed, on his deathbed, that he was Cooper. I think it turned out that they disproved that by testing his DNA.
I actually believe Cooper was Richard McCoy, Jr., who was killed by FBI agents a couple of years later. Both he and Cooper have pretty interesting wikipedia pages.
I'm not sure why I've always found this case so fascinating... it must be some sort of metaphysical thing - if I do the math right, I was conceived within a day or so (give or take) of the night he jumped :)
