There are plenty of Superstars in the NBA to build around but these are probably the 2 highest profile. They could be considered the 2 best current players, and some may even make a case for best all-time (Don't worry Jordan you're still #1 in my eyes). If you started a franchise team today who would you rather build it around?

Lebron's younger and a better teammate. Easy choice.

I went with Lebron as well just for the fact he's much more of a team player and so far it doesn't look like you'll have to worry about him running other stars out of the city like Kobe

Kobe is still King IMO. When LeBron comes through in the Clutch ill retradt this statement.

Kobe is the better player, but I'll take the better teammate. Plus i don't have to worry about LeBron coming late to games because he was in court.

Right now it's Kobe. He has the rings and the longevity. But, in the end I think Lebron will be better.

Better teammate? LeBron hates his team! He puts up god stats because there is nobody on that team. Give me Kobe. He has his ups and downs, but he is the most elite player in the NBA. He can do everything, including playing lock down defense. LeBron sails his team up the river so many times. He wants to trade half the team for Kidd.

Did you see LeBron at the end of the game the other night? He didn't even sit next to players on the bench. He took a seat all the way at the end of the bench, away from everyone.

Right now Kobe for sure but I wouldn't even give it more than say 2 years before Lebron is the real KING!

I thought the question was If you started a FRANCHISE who would you take? Not who is the best individual player in the NBA.

Vbsiena

Because best individual player is Kobe.

Best team player is LeBron.

Ya Kobe makes everything look unreal while Lebron makes everything look so easy. Plus Lebron has heard of the term... assist... Not sure if Kobe has learned to pass yet :)

I'm sorry, did you miss the Eastern Finals last year? CLUTCH, CLUTCH, i don't know is scoring the last like 28 of 31 point in the fourth quarter not CLUTCH. He puts that team on his back almost every game. CLUTCH, PLEASE.........

Somewhat off topic but since we were talking about the freshy's coming into the NBA next year who do you think was a better college freshman Beasley or Durant I have seen a lot of comparisons lately....

Adam Mac
03-01-2008, 11:34 AM
I think Durant was one of the best college players I have ever seen. My favorite game last year and top 10 of all times Was Texas vs. Texas AM between AC Law and Durant going back and forth... I got to watch even more as it went into overtime

Kobe just looked unreal against the Mavs... He had over 50 pts and was making everything. Lebron was pretty sick as well dominating my Bulls. You cant go wrong with either one and I love watching these guys play. They actually make watching NBA games fun again

and the best freshmen is mayo!!

Vbsiena
03-22-2008, 05:03 PM
um Michael Beasely is the best Freshman without a doubt.

Adam Mac
03-27-2008, 09:32 AM
Beasely is by far the best freshman with Rose as a close second.... I would put Mayo in the 2nd tier with Gordon, himself, and Love

Chad Ford's NBA draft machine on ESPN is pretty cool and has mostly freshman and sophomores in it if you guys wanna check out something cool. Early mock picks.

Adam Mac

I'm going there now.... You figure the top 4 picks will most likely be Freshman #1-4 could be Beasley, Rose, Gordon, Majo

First of all, i think this a great question, who to build a team around? I think both are excellent, no doubt! In this i am going to have to with Lebron:

1. Lebron took his team to the finals last year without much of a supporting cast AND beat the Detroit Pistons along the way.

2. Kobe couldnt get past the 1st round without much of a supporting cast too, but one got further than the other.

3. Lebron does not complain nearly as much as Kpbe and does not start to cry when things do not go his way. Wanting better players is fine and is the mark of a good leader but threatneing to lead like Kobe, the way he did it, is a slap in his teamates face.

Here is a list of reasons Lebron would be better to build around than Kobe, mostly at no fault of Kobe's.

Lebron can play every position on the court. It seems to be overlooked that the guy is bigger than alot of PFs in the league, and clearly has a better jumper. If he blows out a knee tomorrow, he can start learning post moves next season and be a decent PF in the NBA, with 3 pt range and size. The guy is physically better than anyone the NBA has EVER seen, including Jordan, Magic, or Shaq. He's physically dominant at a finesse position.

The whole ring debate is a pointless one. I'm on the "Jewelry doesn't account for talent," bandwagon while its the ultimate measure of success, its not a good measure of ability. I'll insert the same tired argument, Robert Horry has seven championship rings with three different teams, so based on that logic his is unarguably the best active player, right?

Kobe has done nothing of substance without Shaq, Lebron took his team to the Finals, albeit a short appearance, with an nba-relative rag tag bunch of scrubs.

Say what you'd like to about Lebron playing against the "weak eastern conference," but Kobe's stats vs. the same "weak east" pale in comparison to Lebron's vs. the "mighty west."

Not to mention, if your building a team... do you want a guy who is 23, and can change positions later in his career? or 29 year old guy whose athleticism alone is what sets him apart?

BTW, for the Kobe supporters, Kobe passes, I'll give you that... that point is more suited for the black hole known as Allen Iverson.

Think if Kobe can win this year he will prove that he is by far the best player in the NBA, and top 2 of all times... Sorry you know I'm from Chicago can't put anyone over Jordon. Would still love to see chris Paul win the MVP but seems so weird that such a great player like Kobe would be without a MVP
