If you want to learn all about trading stocks read this man’s stuff. Go through the board header. He does chart evaluations for specific stocks in the message board. He is away moving right now. It’s mostly for swing trading. I know you're probably just looking for a couple of stocks to invest in, but if ever get more serious this is a good spot. I don't trade often but I made money once off a video game company, Activision. I would have made a whole lot more if I stayed in.

My uncle gave me $250 worth of Exxon Mobil stock when I graduated college back in 2003.... now it's worth over $600. I've got some mutual funds in my 401k plan but I cant remember what they are.

Poker seems popular amongst the other members here.

Any of you guys regularly play on Poker Stars? If so, what games and limits?

I also play backgammon and chess on a regular basis. I am better at poker than either of those two. Still reading up on the games.

Word.

Most addicting game on the face of the Earth. Even though it's impossible on the Wii... :(I hardly ever played it until we got my dad a table for christmas (he used to play ping pong ALL the time back in the day with his friends) and I have yet to beat him. Closest to beating him was last night, I was up 20-19 (we go to 21, win by 2) and he ended up winning 20-22 :(

I'm starting to get a lot better though, more curves on my shots.

Matt McGuire

Ping pong is the ****.

Darko hear is a tip on my signature serve:

Topspin serve: when you serve it, you want to have the paddle face somewhat parellel to the table and you swing it forward, creating a **** load of topspin on the ball.

After the ball hits your side of the table, the ball should go really high because of the topspin, onto the other side. Then when it hits the other side of the table, it goes really flat.

Confused the hell out of my opponents.

The key to kicking ass in pingpong is to hold serve every time. You need to be accurate and have 3-4 spin serves to mix it up and keep your opponent guessing.

Slice is my favorite serve if you can get it to bend really far it is confusing as heck and then just stops in its tracks

You need to be accurate and have 3-4 spin serves to mix it up and keep your opponent guessing. My dad has a serve that I have such a hard time returning, it has so much spin even when I make good contact it goes completely opposite of where I'm aiming. I really only have two serves right now, one like you described, topspin real low so it is hard to return and then a good curving one. Still need to work on the curve more but god I wish I knew more people that would play.

Matt McGuire
01-09-2009, 11:00 PM
Another serve I like is the backspin. You take the paddle and go up to down to create backspin.

With the top and backspin serves, you can really **** your opponent up. I found with my backspin serve, often the returner hits the ball into the net, especially when I mix my topspin serve into my game.

I also look at where my opponent is standing before I serve. Sometimes I can just tell they would have a hard time going to their left or right, so it is important to work on your accuracy and serve the ball deep into your opponents' side of the table.

Obviously I'm a big football fan, playing, watching, writing, and speculating.

I also enjoy playing sports, particularly basketball.
Reading books of various kinds.
Playing video/computer games.
Working on computer projects (I'm a Computer Science major).
Listening to music.

Since it was mentioned earlier, I started doing some long term investments 3 years ago. Just basic stuff through Sharebuilder, but it taught me some things and will pay off in the long run :)
