Hey everybody!

It's been quite a while since I've posted on here.

I just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone on these forums, especially Walt and Matt.

While it's very likely that no one on this board cares at all about my personal life, I was just accepted over the weekend to the University of Missouri Journalism School.

I know that if it weren't for Walt's opportunity, Matt's constant push, and the support of everyone on these boards, I wouldn't have the same passion for writing that I do today.

Some people are going to see this whole thread as pointless, or just corny, but it's all true so take it for what it's worth.

Thanks again everyone!

Yep, good luck to ya. I've a couple friends doing journalism, and they're in better shape than me job-wise right now.

Thanks for the support guys.

I'll keep you all updated if I start writing for their paper, website, etc.

You better like writing the same article over and over with the same quotes from players/coaches and get paid absolutely nothing with terrible hours.

Just saying, that's why I got our of sports journalism. You better really love it.

I'll remember that. Missouri also owns the local NBC station, so I may get some shots at broadcast journalism as well.

Hopefully it won't be too awful...

I just want you to know what you're up against. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying know what you are getting yourself into.

Also keep in mind how the internet is killing the modern-day newspaper. So if you can get a job writing for a premium web site, then that's cool too.

My advice: You need to get ahead early in this profession. Be active a lot in writing for your school paper and apply for internships.

Thanks for the info man.

I appreciate that because you do have a lot more knowledge on the subject than I do, so anything you can tell me helps.

Writers helping writers right?
