That was a bad call on my part. I knew I didn't have him beat, but I called anyway.

This was a tournament at my friend's house. Not big money at all - just for fun. I play poker for free at FullTilt.net. I think you can play for money there, though I don't think I would ever play poker for money online. You never know if someone's cheating or not.

You think people cheat online? How can they do that? I have been playing poker for about 15 years but would like to try online. I was thinking about trying fulltilt because of the rakebacks. Is anyone here familiar with rakebacks?
Everyone I played with around where I live has either moved or stopped playing.

What are rakebacks?
Well, someone could cheat this way: If they know other people who are in a tournament (or at a table), or maybe they're logged in under multiple accounts, so they know what cards are in other people's hands.
Also, the computer cheats a bit online. If you notice, it always gives the benefit of the doubt to the higher stack. If a lower stack is looking for a straight or flush, it won't get it as opposed to a higher stack getting the card it needs. It's a good trick to know, so if you're going up against someone with more chips, you should probably fold a straight/flush draw.

Online poker is not rigged. There is no benefit to rigging the cards for the website because they make hundred of dollars per second on the sites, so there is no benefit to rigging the cards and potentially facing a lawsuit if someone can prove the software is faulted. It would be tens of billions the web site would have to owe.

Walter is wrong...a rakeback is when you get compensated back a % of the rake the site takes off the the hands you win. For instance, if you get raked $60 over a session, then you would get like $17 back in the rakeback. Depends what you use though.

There is benefit to rigging games - the more games, the more money they can make through advertising and such.
My friend plays online poker professionally. He told me himself how it was rigged and how he uses it to his advantage. He played against Jamie Gold recently.

Anyways,
Jamie Gold sucks. Anyone watch Season 3 of High Stakes Poker? The guy never folded preflop and he lost about 80k in the game. I don't think he is slated to play in Season 4 of HSP which debuts later this month I believe.

I didn't see it, but he was so damn lucky in the Main Event last year. He told everyone what he had, and he always got what he needed.

I can't stand that dude (Gold).
Matt-can you tell me more about rakeback? Don't you have to sign up throuhg a third party company to get rakeback? Do you know a reputable company that works with Full Tilt? TIA

Ya Vick is going to jail and probably has played his last NFL game ever. Talk about screwing up your life. Could have been made face of NFL as well as all his endorsements while getting paid millions to play a game he loves.... now he has nothing

I liked what John Clayton said...
When asked if Vick was going to play football again, Clayton said, "Yep... and he's going to have lots of Arena Bowl championships"
