i dont usually predict trades but i'm fairly certain undead Al was not best pleased with Taylor Mays staying at USC. he wants his sub 4.3 DB

1. Detroit - QB Matthew Stafford (Georgia) - i think GM Mayhew will find it impossible to pass on the best QB available but i don't agree with the pick, they really need to provide Jon Kitna with a franchise LT. Ok Kitna isn't going to lead the Lions to the promised land but a veteran QB is the way to go for a team that will be in transition for at least the next 2-3 years. Then worry about the longterm solution at QB.

2. St. Louis - OT Andre Smith (Alabama) - just a hunch but Smith will turn out to be a bust, like Mike Williams was for Buffalo. the Rams draft Andre Smith because of the hype and that he can supposedly play both LT and RT so whether Orlando Pace decides to play on or retire, their covered both ways. IMO draft Michael Oher or Eugene Monroe and cut Pace.

3. Kansas City - DE/LB Everette Brown (Florida State) - Chiefs need a pass rusher. Everette Brown fits in as a 4-3 RDE, Cover 2 RDE or as 3-4 rush LB

4. Seattle - RB Knowshon Moreno (Georgia) - they could go either WR or RB here. Jim Mora's Atlanta was a running offense. I don't expect Seattle to be any different. Moreno is also a good receiver out of the backfield, and that clinches it over Michael Crabtree

5. Cleveland - RB Chris Wells (Ohio State) - Browns need impact RB to complete their offense, and open things up for the passing game. Defense can wait until later, cos if the offense does its job, the defense can get away with being average for this year at least. Plus D’Qwell Jackson is a tackling machine. Aaron Curry is not really a Bart Scott type LB that would compliment Jackson.

6. Cincinnati - WR Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech) - Mike Brown is an idiot owner. and idiot owners prefer to make flash rather than safe draft picks. Michael Oher should be the pick here, even if both Ocho Stinko and TJH leave.

7. Philadelphia (from Oakland) - DE Brian Orakpo (Texas) - with Taylor Mays staying at USC, Al whiffs at the available talent, sees that Vontae Davis is the best sub 4.3 DB available, so be available at #21, also decides that there is enough speedy WR's available at #29, and does business with Philly, who need another DE to go alongside Trent Cole. Cole could move to LE since Philly’s d-line does nothing except go after QB’s, and Cole is a tackling machine for a DE.

8. Jacksonville - OT Michael Oher (Ole Miss) - Jags need help upfront. To say Khalif Barnes was terrible last year would be the understatement of the century.

9. Green Bay - NT B.J. Raji (Boston College) - with the Pack switching to a Dom Capers 3-4 defense, they need a dominant force to anchor the d-line. Raji’s soaring stock and Ted Thompson’s history of d-line picks should mean Raji comes off the board at this point.

10. San Francisco - OT Eugene Monroe (Virginia) - Mike Singletary is a 'run the ball up the middle' coach. Won't consider WR so an LT makes sense. Help in the run game and will protect Shaun Hill whenever Singletary decides to call a pass play

11. Buffalo - DE Michael Johnson (Georgia Tech) - a bit of a reach but there is no 4-3 RDE available other than Johnson. The Bills need to get younger and faster at DE. I think the Bills may trade down a few spots and still be confident of picking Michael Johnson.

12. Denver - RB LeSean McCoy (Pittsburgh) - no more injury prone RB's that rely on Shanny's zone blocking scheme to excel, McCoy will make Denver's offense scary. For round 2 they'll address DE/LB. D.J. Williams will move to ILB and Denver will pair him with a Bart Scott type ILB to allow Williams to make plays.

13. Washington - QB Mark Sanchez (USC) - Darth Snyder is the type of owner that will pull of this move. Actually Jason Campbell hasn't really done much since being drafted in 2005. Alternately the 'Skins may opt for OT Jason Smith, but unless Chris Samuels retires, Jason Smith won't be of any immediate help as he can't play RT.

14. New Orleans LB Aaron Curry (Wake Forest) - has Aaron Curry really fallen this far? LB's do not necessarily go as high as their talent suggests mainly due to more premium being attached to other positions such as QB, OT and DE. the Saints need to upgrade their LB corp and also to cut Vilma unless they want to surrender this pick to the Jets. Curry will probably play SLB but I suppose he could play MLB for the Saints.

15. Houston - S William Moore (Missouri) - the Texans defensive efforts were wasted primarily due to having a garbage secondary, especially at the safety positions. William Moore upgrades either safety spot

16. San Diego - ILB Rey Maualuga (USC) - Offensively the Bolts were a juggernaut (over 400 points), so when you go 9-9 and exit at the division round of the playoffs, it doesn't take a genius to work out the problem is the defense. ILB is the obvious weak spot, Maualuga is an upgrade over both Stephen Cooper and Tim Dobbins.

17. New York Jets - CB Malcolm Jenkins (Ohio State) - the Jets pair Darrelle Revis with Malcolm Jenkins. Could also trade down and select S Patrick Chung. Either Jenkins or Chung upgrades the Jets secondary.

18. Chicago - WR Jeremy Maclin (Missouri) – Hester is inconsistent, Olsen is a TE, and the rest of the WR corp are garbage. Time for duh Bears to give themselves a dynamic WR.

19. Tampa Bay - DT Peria Jerry (Ole Miss) – Bucs d-line failed to generate pressure and also got whipped in run defense as the season wore on. Carter and Hovan are finished, Jovan Haye was injured, so a d-line upgrade is needed. Peria Jerry can play the UT spot, with Haye moving over to LE.

20. Detroit - (from Dallas) OT Jason Smith (Baylor) – if my mock turns out to be the NFL Draft, the Lions gamble on taking a QB over a LT with the #1 pick has paid off, as they are now able to replace Jeff Sackus with Jason Smith.

21. Oakland - (from Philadelphia) CB Vontae Davis (Illinois) – Al must have his ‘Playmakah’, it won’t occur to him that Vontae Davis can’t cover anyone. Phillip Buchanon mkII

22. Minnesota - CB D.J. Moore (Vanderbilt) – Vikes have a great front 7, good safeties, but garbage corners. They fix that by selecting D.J. Moore, who can contribute straight away as a returner and eventually secure one of the two starting CB spots.

23. New England - DE/LB Clint Simtin (Virginia) – ‘Cameraman’ can’t select stealth video recorders with this pick so instead he settles on Clint Simtin, who would eventually replace Mike Vrabel or even could allow Adalius Thomas to move inside. Also attractive to the ‘Cameraman’ is that Simtin plays rush LB at college so it should be a smooth transition.

24. Atlanta - TE Brandon Pettigrew (Oklahoma State) – Falcons would’ve preferred a DT, but with none worth taking at this point, they draft a TE that fits their power running game. Pettigrew is one of those rare breeds, a TE who can both catch and block.

25. Miami - OG Duke Robinson (Oklahoma) – at this point, Duke Robinson is probably the best player available. Robinson and Jake Long should form one of the best LT/LG tandems in the NFL and may allow them to run more to the left.

26. Baltimore - WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (Maryland) – Derrick Mason won’t play forever, Mark Clayton is inconsistent, and DHB would be a home pick. Not to mention he has great upside.

27. Indianapolis - ILB James Laurinaitis (Ohio State) – this move would never have happened under Tony Dungy. My gut feeling is that with the firing of Ron Meeks, Jim Caldwell is looking to move away from Cover 2 and have a defense that is better at stopping the run. Laurinaitis would be an absolute steal here, by far the best player available and the Colts benefit from the fact that LB’s are not a premium position when it comes to the first round of the draft.

28. Oakland (from Carolina via Philadelphia) - WR Percy Harvin (Florida) – Al decided Percy Harvin or Darrius Heyward-Bey might be available here. Having acquired his ‘Playmakah’, he then sees Harvin is still available, happens to have the fastest 40 time of players worth drafting at this point and pulls the trigger.

29. New York Giants - OT Eben Britton (Arizona) – David Diehl is more of a LG than a LT. If the Giants o-line has a weakness, it’s the current LG Rich Seubert. By drafting Eben Britton, the Giants will eventually move Diehl inside when they feel the Arizona product is ready to play.

30. Tennessee - WR Kenny Britt (Rutgers) – the Titans need someone to catch the ball for them. Justin Gage is solid but he’s never going to be a #1 WR. As for the others, I can’t remember their names, I wonder why ;)

31. Arizona - C Alex Mack (California) – the Center spot is not the Cardinals greatest strength on the o-line. Alex Mack should be a perennial pro bowler for the next 10 years.

32. Pittsburgh - DE Tyson Jackson (LSU) – the Steelers d-line does need some injection of young blood, although Jackson won’t immediately usurp any of the 3 starters, all 3 are 30+. Tyson Jackson also fits in scheme wise. He can play either NG spot in a 3-4 or LDE in a 4-3. Should Mike Tomlin go to a full Cover 2 scheme, Tyson Jackson might even play inside.

god pick and reasoning for Pettigrew. he reminds me of a mix between Alge Crumpler's blocking and Jeremy Shockey's receiving abilities. I see him being a top 5 TE in the NFL after a couple of years.

LeSean McCoy is totally a reach at 12 and there are WAY too many defensive players there for the Broncos to take.

Mike Brown doesn't prefer to make flash picks over safe picks... In case you didn't notice, we've actually drafted for need almost every year he's been in power. Nice try, but bad explanation and even worse pick. Do some research on our owner if you're going to say things like that about him. Monroe will be the pick.

Mike Brown's record as owner: 101-186-1

Mike Brown has also taken several (over) hyped players with the first round pick, like Ki-Jana Carter, Akili Smith, Peter Warrick, Carson Palmer. apart from Palmer, the rest are busts

I know quite well what our record is under him. I'm quite aware he's possibly the worst Owner in the NFL..

But, look at the years those players were selected. Palmer, the latest one, was in 2003 and we did have a need at QB, so he's out of the picture. Warrick was in 2000, Smith in 1999, and Carter was in 1995. Notice how none of them have happened in the last eight drafts. That's because since the Warrick pick, we've drafted for need. Nice try.

i forgot to add Chris Perry to Cincy's bust list. they already had Rudi Johnson, and whilst a speedy RB would've been a nice addition back in 2004, they could've waited until later on.

Mike Brown usually picks 'best' player available and if it fits a team need then its just co-incidence.

last year he took Keith Rivers (impact LB now playing behind a DL that lets blockers thru faster than water going thru a sieve).

if Crabtree is taken before #6 (i'm not convinced Seattle takes him, possibly the Rams take him at #2, or a team trades up with either Seattle or KC), then Mike Brown will probably have an OT at the top of his board.
