-Penn State out due to USC's bid.

Last 3 in:
Maryland, St. Mary's, SDSU

First OUT:
Penn State, Arizona, Creighton, Auburn

Great job.

Thank God you don't have Northwestern in. Seth Davis just said he has Northwestern as one of his last teams in. Northwestern is garbage.

Walter
03-08-2009, 04:59 PM
I think Saint Mary's belongs in. They were 18-1 before Patty Mills got hurt.

Walter
03-08-2009, 04:59 PM
Davidson over Pitt in the 2nd round in that bracket.

Siena upsets Illinois

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:06 PM
Haha. Its just tentative now. There are some great first round games though.

I don't think Davidson is physical enough to beat Pitt. They'd just kill them down low.

Zona over Xavier. Winner of PennSt/WVU beats Memphis. Purdue over UConn in the 2nd round also.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:07 PM
I'll try and keep this updated as teams get in/make impressions.

Walter to your Northwestern comment. If Northwestern beats Ohio State today, and wins a game in the Big Ten tourney, they are going to get in. They've never been to the NCAA tourney or the NIT, they selection committee will feel bad for them.

Walter
03-08-2009, 05:09 PM
Maybe... but they're still terrible.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:10 PM
Oh, don't get me wrong, I think they are too. I think the Big Ten will get 7 teams in and maybe not advance one. I think Penn State can get the furthest out of all the teams.

Walter
03-08-2009, 05:13 PM
Even Michigan State? I like them... Izzo always wins two games in the tournament.

But I agree otherwise. Big Ten basketball is so slow and sloppy.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:15 PM
In this Bracket Michigan State would adance one game, maybe 2. But it really depends on what seed they get. If they get a 2 or 3, they will probably win 2 games. If they flop in the Big Ten tourney and end up getting a 4 seed in the tourney, watch out.

Michigan State isn't that good this year. If you can shut down Kalin Lucas, you can beat them pretty easily.

if psu can beat memphis i see them going elite 8

ryanwest

if psu can beat memphis i see them going elite 8

I don't. I think Washington is the real deal. Penn State is so inconsistent. They can show up and beat Michigan State and Illinois on the road. And then turn around and lose to Iowa? Come on. That just shows how bad the Big Ten is.

I really think Washington from this bracket could go to the Final Four. UNC would be tough, but Washington has an inside prescence that would be enough to counter Hansborough.

bulldog0123
03-08-2009, 05:20 PM
I think PSU is a big time sleeper.

Walter
03-08-2009, 05:21 PM
UNLV is a tough draw for Mich St. in the 2nd round... I can't see the Spartans beating UConn, so we agree. I thought you meant they wouldn't win one game.

Walter
03-08-2009, 05:22 PM
I think PSU is a big time sleeper.

I'm a PSU homer... and I can't see them getting past both Memphis AND Washington. Maybe one.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:22 PM
BTW...anyone else think its ridiculous that that a Big East team could play 5 games in 5 days to win the tourney?

Last time I checked...the Big East had 16 teams. A perfect bracket is factors of 4, which 16 is...freaking make it with no byes. Louisville, UConn, Pitt, and Nova get a 2 round bye. That is ridiculous. END RANT.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:24 PM
Man I was so hoping that Illinois State Univ would get in. Thats the school I currently go to. Man, it would have been awesome. D*** Champ Oguchi, make a layup and we are going dancing!

EL Guapo
03-08-2009, 05:25 PM
Walter, are we having that contest again on that other site?

Walter
03-08-2009, 05:26 PM
I don't think I ran it last year?

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:27 PM
I'm a PSU homer... and I can't see them getting past both Memphis AND Washington. Maybe one.

One advantage Big Ten has...almost all the teams save for Ohio State, play good defense. So they are always in a game for the most part.

Side Note: Northwestern 32, Ohio State 33, 10:09 to play. Watch out Walter. If Northwestern beats Ohio State, they may just flip spots. Northwestern in, Ohio State out.

Walter
03-08-2009, 05:35 PM
Yeah I have the game on... I can't believe Ohio State isn't crushing this team.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:38 PM
East Tennessee State beats Jacksonville for the Atlantic Sun Autobid. Update coming tomorrow. I'll try and update it everyday like Lunardi does.

Autobids:
Atlantic Sun - ETSU
Big South - Radford
IVY - Cornell
Missouri Valley - Northern Iowa
Ohio Valley - Morehead St

I think thats all the teams that are in right now.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:38 PM
Yeah I have the game on... I can't believe Ohio State isn't crushing this team.

I don't understand why OSU doesn't just lob it to Mullens everytime? Lol. Gotta love Big Ten basketball.

Yeah, it was armchair something

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 05:44 PM
Wow. What a shot. Northwestern is probably the best worst team in the country.

Walter
03-08-2009, 06:05 PM
And there's that. Northwestern comes up short.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 06:10 PM
Northwestern's only shot of making it now is winning the Big Ten tourney. I don't think thats very likely though. Then again, if they beat Michigan(their first round opponent) and then somehow upset Michigan State in the 2nd round. That could be enough.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 06:16 PM
Walter how do you want me to post my bracket tomorrow? I may do it tonight after the games are over.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 06:42 PM
Davidson's Tourney hopes are slipping. I don't see them getting in without winning their tourney

Losing to Charleston 49 - 42 with 6 minutes left.

Mr. Curry better step it up...

EL Guapo
03-08-2009, 06:50 PM
Walter, did I see an Iona College advertisement? How did that happen? I went there.

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 07:06 PM
And there went Davidson's hopes of getting in the tournament. 59-52 loss to Charleston in the semifinals. They are going to be sweating all the way to Selection Sunday.

They better hope some bubble teams struggle this week.

Rider/Niagara in double OT on ESPN

ryanwest
03-08-2009, 10:01 PM
Big games on tomorrow:

George Mason v. VCU - for CAA championship. I'm taking VCU...Maynor's last chance to make some noise before he tries for the NBA.

Siena v. Niagra/Rider. Siena should dominate. Niagra/Rider are in 2OT right now, so they are probably going to be exhausted and running on fumes tomorrow.

S. Utah v. N.Dakota St - S. Utah is trying to get to the tourney despite their 11-19 record. I'll be rooting for them.

Gonzaga v. St.Mary's/Portland - WCC Championship. If St. Mary's gets to the championship and plays a real close game with Gonzaga, they will probably get in the tourney anyways. They are in the same boat as Davidson is now.

Vbsiena
03-08-2009, 10:23 PM
Niagara pulled it out. So #1 Siena vs #2 Niagara for the title. I'm pumped.

Walter

I think Davidson is still in. Curry would draw viewers

ryanwest
03-09-2009, 08:02 AM
You make a good point Walter. The committee might put teams in just for viewing purposes due to the economy.

I think Davidson is a bubble team, but they need some of these bubble teams in the Big East/Big Ten/Big 12 to lose one game to solidify it. And hope for Gonzaga to beat Saint Mary's tonight.

Note: I just saw that the Southern Conference (Davidson's conference) has never gotten an at large bid.

I'm pulling for a few upset bids in these tourneys so that not as many big ten teams get in. I'm a Michigan fan, and they don't belong in this tourney. Neither does Minnesota or Wisconsin.

I think Davidson gets in cause of Curry too. He's one of the biggest singular draws.

I think George Mason wins tonight. VCU still will get an at large bid more than likely. George Mason should too even if they lose a close one tonight, but I just don't think they do for some reason if they don't win the tourney.

tbod10

George Mason definitely just killed any chance of getting in tonight.

I hope St. Marys gets in cause they've been really good all season. Only 3 losses of the season came to the #12 team in the country. The problem is they only ranked team they played all season was Gonzaga. The more I think about it, they're probably not making it.

Put the updated info in the first post as well. Not too much difference from yesterday's, there won't be too much deviation until more autobids are taken or when the Big Dogs start to play their tourneys.

Teams needing a win or two to make a case: Northwestern, Kansas State, Maryland, Miami, Virginia Tech, SDSU, UNLV, Temple, Rhode Island.

03-10-2009, 11:26 PM
And there went Davidson's hope of getting in right there. They are officially not getting in.

St. Mary's must be very worried that Cleveland State won. As should many other bubble teams, they just took a bid away.

More teams in: W.Kentucky, Cleveland State

Weber State just lost its bid with a loss to Montana State in their conference tourney, God I love March Madness.

Updated on First Post.

St. Mary's is officially off my board for now. Unless something drastic happens they will probably be in the NIT. Unless some of these other big schools such as the Big Ten schools/Providence/ACC schools play their way out of a bid, St.Mary's probably won't be going.

Big games today:

Depaul v. Providence - Providence needs this game and to play close v. Louisville tomorrow to secure a bid.

N. Dame v. W. Virginia - If Notre Dame can win this game and the next one (v. Pitt) they should be in the tourney then as much as I would hate to see it.

Iowa St v. Okla St - Okla State needs this game to secure their bid.

Mt St. Mary's v. Robert Morris - Winner gets an autobid. NEC Championship

Texas Tech v. Texas A&M - A&M needs to win to secure a bid.

Montana St v. Portland St - Winner gets an autobid. Big West Championship

Providence after this showing definitely needs to show up tomorrow against Louisville and be competitive.

I'm going down for the first 2 rounds in Philly next week. I'm so pumped. I get UConn and Nova more than likely. Only thing is I want some chips to fall certain ways because the other 2 projected matchups are BYU vs. Texas A&M, and LSU vs. New Mexico. I would like to see one of the exciting small conference schools that have a chance to make some noise in the first 2 rounds.

More I think about it, I think I have Butler too high in the bracket.

Digger Phelps just said Butler "may" get in? Are you kidding me? They're in. 26-5? 2-1 v. top 50? Please.

Tomorrow is probably the day that reflects the most on the tourney. A lot of the bubble teams are making their case or not by tomorrow.

Notre Dame isn't rebounding at all. West Virginia is playing great defense.

OK St. keeps their hopes alive after struggling all day against Iowa St. They might be in a similar situation as Providence. They have to put up a really good fight tomorrow in order to have a decent shot at the tourney.

ryanwest
03-11-2009, 08:06 PM
I don't know. They don't have the bad losses that Providence has. I think Oklahoma State is in. Winning tomorrow certainly would remove any doubt.

A&M should be in whether they win or lose, but losing puts doubt in the committee's mind. They just need to win.

ryanwest
03-12-2009, 08:39 AM
I updated my bracketology. I worked out some kinks so if some teams dropped for no apparent reason its because I had them too high. I've fixed it, and it looks a lot better than usual.

Huge games of meaning for almost all bubble teams today.

Providence - Louisville: Providence needs to keep this close, Louisville is trying for a 1 seed

Minnesota - Northwestern: Winner keeps a chance alive to go to the NCAA, the other is probably NIT bound.

Miami - Virginia Tech: See above.

Those are the 3 critical ones for the 12pm est games.

tbod10
03-12-2009, 08:46 AM
Texas A&M losing last night hurts their seeding. I still think they make it in no problem, but I think this drops them to around a 7-9 instead of possibly going up to a 5 with a few wins in the Big 12 tourney.

Michigan also I think needs to win in order to stay alive for the tournament. I've watched a lot of them this year. Without at least 1 win in the Big Ten tourney, I think they go NIT instead.

If Miami wins I think they deserve to be in. They've played some really close games this year on the road and have one of the best players in the country. Teams with a player like McClinton are always dangerous in the tourney.

ryanwest
03-12-2009, 09:13 AM
I agree.

A&M is probably a 10 seed now. Which is probably better than being an 8/9 seed.

Michigan definitely needs to win today. If they lose, they are NIT bound. If they win, they pretty much take a bid because of their OOC schedule being brutal.

If Miami beats Virginia Tech today, they probably knock out Creighton. You're right that with one really good player they are dangerous, and I think Miami could be a good upset pick in the tournament because they are so battle tested. To upset some teams though, they will need someone else besides McClinton to step up.

I agree though.

Really?

I did not know that. Man, imagine Siena this year and last year if they still had him.

There would be no way the team would have been the same players if he stayed. He came to Siena being recruited by former coach Rob Lanier, but transferred after his freshman year. I think he was MAAC rookie of the year but I'm not certain on that. Plus Kenny Hasbrouk would never have come to Siena without Coach McCaffrey

Other notable freshman/sophomore transfers were:

Kojo Mensah of Duqense (shot in leg)

and Al Fisher of Kent State

both had fine collegian careers from what i've been told.

Big Games on right now:

Michigan - Iowa: Michigan probably becomes a lock with a win, with a loss, they are on the outside looking in.

Marquette - Villanova: Just playing for seeding in the tournament.

Arizona St - Arizona: Win by Arizona puts them in, a loss makes it questionable.

St. Joseph's - Temple: Temple is looking to make a run in the A10 tourney to try and get a bid.

Texas - Kansas St: Kansas St can make a strong case with a win vs. Texas

Villanova is a sleeper as is Louisville. Those are the 2 teams that get less publicity than Pitt and UConn.

ryanwest
03-12-2009, 03:18 PM
I don't consider the #5 team in the country a sleeper.

I understand what you're saying about being covered. Louisville doesn't have a lot of good guard play though. Thats the only thing that worries me about them. Guard play is the most important part of the NCAA tournament.

holy crap what an ending. What an unbelievable cut and pass by the 2 Nova players on that final play. Anybody else think there might have been a foul at the other end though?

I agree with the Marquette is James was still playing. They started their downward play when he went out. They would be a tough out in the tourney. I think that they're a team ripe for an upset in 1 of the first 2 rounds of the tourney though.

I hear what you're saying about Louisville. I was just saying nobody talks about them and they have a dominant front court.

I like WVU tonight only because I think Pitt has a #1 seed sealed up so they might come out a little lackluster. In the other Big East game I like it to be close, but UConn comes away with the win to help them move towards sealing their #1 seed status. Crazy that the Big East might have 3 #1 seeds this year. The conference is that good.

You're forgetting how bad they are. Lol.

I think Arizona may be out. If Penn State wins today, and Florida, Va Tech, SDSU win today/tomorrow, Arizona is done. They will probably be one of the last teams in/out in my update later tonight.

ryanwest
03-12-2009, 04:03 PM
I think Arizona State could be a scary team to play in the tournament. James Harden probably wants to prove to all the NBA teams out there how good he really is. Kind of like when Carmelo led Syracuse. Plus they have a pretty underrated player in Pendergraph.

Only big games on right now are:

Penn State - Indiana: Penn State wins, they are in. If they don't, they'll have a long weekend ahead of them.

San Diego State - UNLV: Winner of this game keeps hopes alive of having a NCAA tournament bid.

San Diego State is killing UNLV and are eliminating any chance of UNLV making it.

ryanwest

Oklahoma lost tonight. Oklahoma State is making a huge improvement.

Other news: Rhode Island is done. Lost their game tonight.

Pitt is still a number 1 seed, its just a matter of where they are playing.

haha yea I'm such an idiot. I forgot Oklahoma already played and forgot to check out the score. So they're a #2. Yea, there's no other team that can be a #1 seed. So this game became a lot less important to UConn tonight.

This game is crazy.

Anyways, updated my bracket tonight, hopefully Walter posts it up rather quickly. It obviously doesn't have the Syracuse/UConn outcome nor does it have the New Mexico/Wyoming outcome which could cause New Mexico a berth if they lose.

Big Games tomorrow Early:

Minnesota/Mich State: If Minnesota doesn't keep this close, they could be on the outside looking in.

Virginia Tech/N.Carolina: See above.

Kentucky/LSU: Kentucky has to get to the SEC championship game in order to be considered, and they will have to start with this game.

ryanwest

West Virginia has to be loving this. Neither one of these teams will have much energy tomorrow.

On another note, New Mexico lost to Wyoming tonight. With that loss, they are practically eliminated from making the tourney, giving the MWC 3 bids. This opens the door for some other bubble teams.

ryanwest

That depends. If South Carolina loses they are probably done, but Florida would take their bid if they win (keep balance in the SEC). VT wins, they are definitely in probably knocking out Arizona.

Minnesota is my 5th to last team in, so if they get blown out tomorrow they could risk not being in.

Penn State/Michigan are the the ones right in front of them. The Big Ten could lose a bid to some of these other bubble teams.

UNLV

Walter, I don't think UNLV is in. They don't have a good conference record, and finished 5th in their conference. Especially since they can't make their case now after not showing up against SD State. They aren't going to make it over SD State because SDSU beat them 3 times.

ryanwest

One bit of advice when picking your National Championship winner.

No team has ever won the NCAA tournament after losing their first game in their conference tournament. So Oklahoma, Pitt, UConn...goodbye.

ryanwest
03-13-2009, 11:28 AM
Minnesota playing Michigan State tough right now. If they keep it to single digits, they should be in.

Va Tech beating UNC right now. N.Carolina better hope Lawson is ok, because they look mediocre without him. He is definitely the person who gels this team.

ryanwest
03-13-2009, 11:59 AM
Minnesota down 3 at half to MSU. They've played out of their minds, I don't know if they can keep it up. Michigan St 33, Minnesota 30 HALF.

Virginia Tech is playing very good, but UNC has seemed to find what they need to do offensively. North Carolina 43, Virginia Tech 42 HALF.

tbod10
03-13-2009, 12:13 PM
It seems that UNC has gotten into their zone offensively and I don't expect that game to be closer much longer.

MSU and Minnesota seems like it'll be a close game until the end.

Anybody else see the bottom line alert on ESPN right before the MSU vs. Minn half? It read:

UNC def. VTech 43-42 at halftime. It should have read UNC leads VTech 43-42 at halftime. Thought it was pretty funny, I didn't realize they were only playing 20 minute games in the ACC today.

ryanwest

Working on the NCAA tournament update bracket...here are my Last Ten in the tournament. Now, I do not think all of these teams are in jeopardy of being in and out, I just think this is the pecking order. I believe there are about 7 or 8 spots up for grabs.

Last 10 in: Boston College, Texas A&M, Ohio St, Michigan, Minnesota, Penn St, South Carolina, Arizona, SDSU, Creighton

Out(14): St. Mary’s, Florida, Virginia Tech, Maryland, New Mexico, Temple, Davidson, Kentucky, Providence, Auburn, USC, Tulsa, UAB, Kansas St, Northwestern, Rhode Island

ryanwest

S. Carolina is in a tight game against Miss State. A loss knocks them off the bubble.

Big games for 6:30/7 games:
UAB/Tulsa: Winner still has a shot at an large bid. The other? Not so much.

Nova/Louisville: Everyone knows why.

Temple/Xavier: If Temple can knock of Xavier, they will make a very strong case to get in the tournament.

Maryland/Wake: Maryland is playing for its life. A win they are probably in or very close. A loss and their done.

Baylor/Texas: Baylor is looking to keep its improbable run up. Bubble teams are hoping Texas beats them.

tbod10
03-13-2009, 03:49 PM
I think if Maryland wins tonight against Wake and they're in.

And good point about VTech, I didn't even look at their last 10 trend. Late season records definitely weigh more in the committee's decisions than early season wins.

ryanwest
03-13-2009, 04:04 PM
I agree. They will jump a lot of teams and probably knock out a Big Ten team(Penn State, Minnesota, Michigan/Wisconsin). But if Penn State and Michigan both win tonight (very likely), it'll be tough to knock either of those teams out.

Committee looks at how you've performed the last half of the season and road wins among other things. They don't like to mention it, but they do. They use the term "body of work" all the time.

Penn State is probably on their way out.

Utah St is down 1 with :32 seconds left.

BYU just took their first lead of the game 57-56, 2:30 left.

Michigan doesn't deserve to be in. I agree that the Big Ten definitely shouldn't have 8 teams in the tourney.

Maryland should be in after tonight's really impressive victory.

I agree Big Ten shouldn't get 8 bids.

If I had to rank the last 4 teams in the Big Ten it would go like this: Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Penn State

Michigan has a great OOC wins. Wisconsin and Minnesota are tied in my book, but Minnesota has played awful down the stretch, and Penn State's OOC is going to kill them.

I think Penn State is going to get bounced out. There are too many teams out there that can steal bids: Baylor, Auburn/Miss St, Tulsa, and the A10 stealing a bid with Duquesne/Temple winner getting one.

Maryland is safe unless some crazy things happen with the bubble teams. Probably a 10 or 11 seed.

Tomorrow is the day that makes it clearer what teams are staying home and going dancing. It should be a very fun day.

Walter, you're St. Mary's team might be making it after all. It is going to be really close.

Just hope for a Baylor loss, Arizona St win, Utah St win, Memphis win, LSU and Tennessee wins, and any others that are already projected in.

USC beat UCLA tonight....USC is back to being squarely on the bubble.

Walter

I hope Saint Mary's makes it over these crap teams like Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc.

ryanwest

I was crunching some of the numbers and this is my version of "Lunardi's Bracket Math":

Last 10 in: Boston College, Michigan, Texas A&M, Dayton, Wisconsin, Minnesota, SDSU, Maryland, St. Mary’s, Penn State

Out (8): Arizona, Creighton, USC, Auburn, New Mexico, Tulsa, UNLV, Florida

I agree with Lunardi that there are only 4 spots open for debating. The only way teams like Wisconsin/Minnesota are out is if a lot of the bid stealers take more than 4 bids.

St. Mary's jumped Penn State and Arizona due to Utah State and SDSU still winning. It will help them even more if they both win their conference tournaments. They beat them both in the season. Penn State's season is looking bleak.

Binghamton got in. 1st time ever in the NCAAs. Nice to see that. Plus they are from NY

Miss State beating LSU.
Ohio State beating Mich State.
FSU down 3 at half to UNC.
Memphis crushed Tulsa.

Bubble teams are big LSU fans right now. Miss State only gets in by winning the SEC tourney, which they would have a chance to do tomorrow with a win. SEC must want 3 bids.

Walter

Hope FSU covers... UNC looks impressive w/o Lawson

ryanwest

Bubble teams are very worried with the Mississippi State win.

Looks like the Big East will get 3 #1 seeds if Michigan State can't win today.

Pitt may get the #1 overall seed. If UNC can't seem to win today. They need to get to the final in order to get the #1 overall Seed. It may not matter though as Pitt would get the East, UNC the south, Louisville Midwest (if they win Big East), and UConn gets shipped out West (If MichState can't win today).

I think Gottlieb said it best...all these teams making runs right now were supposed to be good at the beginning of the year.

For example: Baylor returned all 5 starters from an NCAA team last year.
Miss State has Varnado in a weak SEC conference, they should have made it.
USC has boat loads of talent.

These bubble teams are going to be very worried.

ryanwest
03-14-2009, 02:45 PM
FSU covers and wins outright. This team is scary good. Great point guard, very lengthy, this team can make a final four run.

ryanwest

If you guys had to pick who would u take: Toney Douglas or Johnny Flynn?

ryanwest
03-14-2009, 07:43 PM
USC upsets Arizona State, they are going dancing. Arizona has no shot whatsoever to make it now.

Penn State/St. Mary's/Creighton must hope for Utah to beat SDSU, Tennessee to beat Miss St, and Utah State to beat Nevada. If any or all of those happen, none of those teams are likely going dancing.

Did Maryland really do enough?

ryanwest
03-14-2009, 08:01 PM
Only way Maryland doesn't get in is if Miss State wins tomorrow, and possibly Nevada beating Utah State tonight.

I think their safe for the most part.

Update: Utah just beat SDSU, so Maryland jumps them also.

ryanwest

Your Terps probably get a 11 seed.

Ain't my Terps. It's just a coincidence that I like the Ravens and want to see the Terps make a run.

What seed do you think the Bucks will get if they win the tourney?

ryanwest
03-14-2009, 08:59 PM
Right now...I have them pegged as Low 7, High 8 seed.

They could make a push for a 6, but if Tenn wins the SEC tourney, they probably won't move up much more than that.

Plus the Big Ten tourney is the last game of the day, so the seeding could be done by then.

Excited for tonight to see who gets in and who's out.

This is what I think right now:

Last Three IN: Maryland, St. Mary's, SDSU

Last 4 OUT: Penn State, Arizona, Creighton, Auburn

Lunardi has:
Maryland, Creighton!?, St. Mary's

Penn State, Arizona, SDSU, Auburn

I don't understand how Lunardi has Creighton ahead of Penn State and Arizona.

I really want Davidson and Saint Mary's in. I feel as though they have the best chance of winning a few games.

ryanwest
03-15-2009, 12:15 PM
I don't think St. Mary's will do that great. They need to get Patty Mills playing great basketball, which he hasn't lately.

If he can play like he can and St. Mary's gets out and forces some turnovers, the Gaels will be a force to be reckoned with.

Its all about matchups.

tbod10
03-15-2009, 12:15 PM
If Davidson gets in, it'll solely be because Stephen Curry will sell tickets. With the current economic situation we're in, I can't blame them if they take that route. I hope they do it just so he can possibly make another run like last year.

ryanwest
03-15-2009, 12:18 PM
Davidson would be a team playing with a point to prove. More than last year. Stephen Curry could break the tournament scoring record. Problem is, if he gets in foul trouble, Davidson struggles horribly.

That's what Digger was saying, but he's had two weeks off to recover.

I hate Digger Phelps, so I'm about to change my opinion.

Not really two weeks though Walter.
St. Mary's scheduled a game against E. Washington on Friday night. Kind of a way to prove to the committee that they are fine. It was a genius move.

I also dont' think he needs rest. He has had rest. I think its a matter of him getting out there and getting in flow with his team. Like I said, if Patty Mills is fine, St. Mary's will do damage.

ryanwest
03-15-2009, 12:29 PM
Update: Jarvis Varnado, center for Mississippi State, has left the game against Tennessee. If he isn't in the game, Tennessee will steamroll MSU. Varnado changes everything defensively for this team.

Update: Varnado is back in. MSU kept it close while he was out.

Didn't see that. He had 19 pts in that game.

ryanwest

That is one of the main reasons I have them in. I think they are going to see that Patty Mills scored double digits and they won by more than 20.

What a genius move to schedule that game after the conference tourney was over. Lol.

This SEC game is just ridiculous at the end here. Geez, like thirty official whistles within ten seconds.

Rooting for MSU...I would feel bad for a bubble team or two, but Rocky Top can suck it.
