Gov, I'm a browns fan, so you know I mean this when I say it. I know the pain of rooting for a sucky team, and it hurts. Hopefully some good happens.
I have liked Derek Carr a lot so far. I feel like he has done an exceptional job considering the Raiders have ran for <40 yards a game outside of Derek's runs. He also has taken a very low amount of sacks and has not been afraid to make tough throws, and has actually made them. Most of his interceptions have felt like the wideouts fault as well (ie: Denarius Moore in the GIF above). In media interview Derek Carr comes across as a great leader as well and I'm very happy with the selection.
Gabe Jackson and Stefen Wisniewski also seem like they have the potential to be great building blocks for a long term offensive line. TJ Carrie has outperformed so far as well.
I feel like if the Raiders switched to a 3-4 base defense and added 46 Bear defensive looks in run down situations this team could make a leap towards 7-9 to 10-6 range next year.

This is obviously a way too early look at what I'd like next year, but I think it's a better fit for the team than what we have now. At some point the Raiders have to learn to run the ball and stop the run. At worst Derek Carr would become a very good game manager which is about all you'd need if you could establish a solid defense and top half run game. It's looking like the prize of FA is going to be a DT probably Ndamukong Suh, who would be a huge boost if the Raiders shell out 60-70 million over 4 or so years.
I don't know. This year looks awful, but I still have hope for the future.
