Derek Wolfe is a 3rd-4th round prospect. Amini Silatolu? Why are we reaching on a guard in the second round? Lots of other picks that just seem unresearched and a lot that any random fan can say "Oh they have a need here, I'll mock them this player!"

I used to actually listen to Mel but his quality has gone so far down this year it seems. Or maybe I'm just getting smarter.

If the Patriots got Josh Robinson in the second, I would get the biggest boner.

I would love it if the first two picks were Kalil/Smith for the Vikings.

            18. SD - Chandler Jones, DE/OLB
Why exactly do McShay and Kiper love him so much? I haven't seen anything from him that warrants anything higher than the middle of the second round.

            27. NE - Shea McClellin DE/OLB
Did I miss something? I've been under the assumption McClellin was a borderline 2nd/3rd round prospect at best.

            31. NE - Derek Wolfe DE/DT
Not terrible, but I would typically think Wolfe is more of a second round prospect.

            38. JAX - A.J. Jenkins WR
This one baffles me the most... I don't have Jenkins in my top 200 prospects, either my eyes are deceiving me when I watch him, or Mel's been dipping into the Kool-Aid

            60. BAL - Terrell Manning ILB
I guess picks at the bottom of the second round are toss-ups, but Manning is just way too high. But then again, the Chargers drafted Jonas Mouton one spot later last year, so this pick's not totally out there.

No Lamar Miller, Jeffery or Sanu in his first two rounds. Agree wholeheartedly with Bball on those above picks, big reaches.

I don't mind reaches, because reaches happen, but some of them are huuuuuge reaches and you're leaving out players like Jeffery, Sanu, and Miller for them. Plus they're going to teams that would never reach (like the Ravens and Patriots) and there's no real reasoning for it other than "The Pats need a Dlineman, and Derek Wolfe is that"

Kiper would fit in well with a lot of stupid front offices then.

See, this Carolina draft I love.
Rely on your own strength of body and soul. Take for your star self-reliance, faith, honesty and industry. Don't take too much advice — keep at the helm and steer your own ship, and remember that the great art of commanding is to take a fair share of the work. Fire above the mark you intend to hit. Energy, invincible determination with the right motive, are the levers that move the world.

Dwayne Allen to the Eagles? A second round pick should be spent on something better than a 3rd TE

These... This mock really makes me shake my head, because it's so far off from consensus. I mean, I know that's how the draft works, but no one can think right now that this is how the draft will unfold. Unpredictable picks are unpredictable. You don't mock a team a player that everyone agrees is inferior just because the draft is unpredictable. You pick your spots and mock picks like that when it makes too much sense to not do it.

Also, I have Insider, and the explanations didn't really touch on prospects in relation to one another at all. It was nearly all "Team X has a need here, player Y fills that need because" and then some pros and cons of the player. I don't know if I can say this, but he doesn't really justify picking one prospect over another (Jones over Mercilus, for example).

I like Kiper a lot, but I wish he would explain his reasoning a bit more.

I could see the Browns trading back into the second or third round to double dip on high level prospects. They really need four to five day one starters and depth everywhere.

If Vinny Curry falls to the Titans in round two, I'll be psyched. This whole Chandler Jones thing is pretty stupid. He's a first rounder the way that Da'Quan Bowers was the first overall pick.
