  • I get that walt hates Cassel, but I agree. 2 years for less than 2 million a year for somebody who at least knows the offense is not a bad deal.

    • How is there nothing about Reuben Foster's goddamn 40 time yet?

        • Cassel sucks, but who else is out there? Now that guys that would be career back ups are getting 10-15 million per year, it's tougher to find a good back up. But hey, you guys can have Landry Jones if you want.

He wasn't going to be working out at the pro day.

Ah. Well that explains a lot.

                Was he injured or something?

Recovering from shoulder surgery I believe.

                  • TE Jordan Cameron is retiring due to the extensive concussion history he has, which is probably for the best, as he doesn't need his brain turning completely into pudding.

                    • Y'all should go check out ESPN's new NFL draft big board. Some, uh, interesting names missing.

                      http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft

(spoiler alert: somebody screwed up the code and dropped the first dozen or so names from the top of the list) EDIT: Aw, they already fixed it. But yeah, the top 21 names were missing. Apparently they are very high on Zay Jones, Carlos Henderson, and Josh Jones in the 2nd round, with Zach Cunningham as a mid-2nd caliber player.

                        • DeShaun Watson had a very pedestrian workout at his pro day. Cleveland representatives weren't there, which might indicate their level of interest in the kid.

                          • Mike Reiss of ESPN had some really strange remarks on why New England chose to pay Stephon Gilmore over Malcolm Butler. Specifically:

What is it about the 26-year-old Gilmore, who is married with two children, that gave the Patriots more comfort in investing so big in him when compared to the 27-year-old Butler, who is single?

When you bring a player on to your team, you get everything that comes with him - on and off the field.
Not sure what exactly Reiss is implying here, but I have some unflattering guesses.

                              They think Butler is gay?

That was my first assumption. He could also just be a party animal, though I don't see why either would matter to New England so long as he puts in the work on the field and doesn't get arrested.
