  • who would trade for Calvin Johnson

the Lions have major needs and the draft may only help with some holes. But trading your best asset for value picks and maybe 2 starters. One thing that baseball teams and basketball teams do when they know that they can't win now, but can rebuild later is trade your star, let the fans moan for a season or too. And build your empire over.

some idea CJ for B Quinn & B Edwards
    Cj for Jax's 1st pick, R Nelson, J Henderson, and 2nd rounder
CJ and 20th pick for J Cutler & B Marshall and 12 pick
    Cj for philly's 2-1st picks-D Jackson-2nd rounder and late 4th
Cj for giants 1st pick M Kiwuanaka, 2nd rounder, S Smith, and B cofield

    some ides or two

Why would they trade him when they can build around him. Lions will not be good/competitive for a few seasons so why not just build around him during those times.

CJ isn't THAT good. He's great, but not worth some of those deals.

If he was 28, 29+ then it might make sense to trade him for multiple players/help to rebuild around. But the fact that he is so young and so amazing it would make more sense to rebuild around him, not get rid of him

NE officially offers veteran leadership and elite name, Junior Seau... Oh Matt Millen isn't your GM anymore? Nevermind...

(Yea, it'd be stupid to trade away your only good WR when you are drafting a QB...)

No way a trade happens, but I'd like to throw the Cowboys in there. If Jerry wants it, he will find a way.
Mike Jenkins will have a Darrelle Revis-like season next year. Quote me on that.

The Lions would be dumb to trade him. he's the real deal and if they can get him a QB to get him the ball, he'll be one of the best in the game.

Trade him to the Browns for Braylon Edwards.

I think Lions fans would commit suicide if he was traded.

Wait. Explain to me why we are discussing this?

If the Lions trade Calvin Johnson within the next two years they are the worst franchise in the history of football.

There is no point in doing that?

Someone should just lock this thread right now. That would be like the Vikings trading Adrian Peterson. It'd be dumb. Dumber than dumb. Actually, it'd be plain stupid.

Going 0-16 wasn't bad enough for them?

Honestly, that is a fairly serious matter. I wonder if anyone actually (tragically) took their life because of the 0-16 season?

Well if you combine your fav sports team going 0-16 and being the laughingstock of the NFL, with losing your job, with losing your house, with losing your family (due to divorce over the last 2), then it could be very possible. People seriously put so much faith and emotion into their favorite teams. Devastating loses mess with their psychise (sp?)

Calvin Johnson is a very young, talented player, one that you want when you're trying to build.

My team played against him in high school...
