I'd rather just roll with Vick/Foles this year and find a QB next year. Bad things happen when you reach for a QB.
Nate Allen is just like Brian Dawkins, only the exact opposite.
From what I've read, he's got good coverage skills but has an injury history. He was bumped out of the starting lineup because Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins showed up, but he would play outside CB in the nickel (Finnegan moved to the slot) and was pretty good. Then as the season came to an end, Trumaine Johnson (3rd round pick) was given playing time over Fletcher. All in all, seems like a solid cornerback who doesn't mind getting physical, which is an upgrade over DRC and Nnamdi.

So what did you guys think of the draft? I give it a solid B. Nothing I didn't like but nothing that I was jumping for joy.
Couple interesting notes from Chip on our guys:
OT Lane Johnson - said he was actually #4 on the big board, the three that went before in that order were their first 3. Guess they really liked Dion Jordan but didn't feel a need to address the position (i agree) since they didn't draft anyone else or sign any rush lb UDFA's. He was saying they didn't feel the need to trade up for Jordan because then you don't end up with a guy like Bennie or Barkley.
TE Zach Ertz- doesn't mean anything for Celek. Lot of 2 TE's stuff so Celek/Casey/Ertz will all see plenty of time
DT Bennie Logan - he will learn all 3 dline spots, Bennie also said he was told they were running a 3-4 by Chip
QB Matt Barkley - said it was too good of value to pass up and he likes Matt. Had a top 50 grade on him and was by far the bpa to start the 4th.
SS Earl Wolff - From Howie, they were targeting 4 guys here but the other 3 got picked well earlier but they didn't panic and move up and were really pumped when he was still available.
DE Joe Kruger - They had a 4th round grade on him Kruger said he wasn't sure if he was gonna be a de or olb but it sounds like probably de to start
CB Jordan Poyer - 4th round grade on him too
DE/DT David King - Hell be a 3-4 DE but Chip said he talked to Stoops (Oklahoma coach) mostly about Lane Johnson and David King and it was ironic he ended up with both
Overall, they wanted to get bigger and more physical.
We signed 9 UDFA's too. I think Maysonet and Tucker can challenge Polk for that #3 (or a 4th) RB spot, Knott for a backup ILB job, and Wing with Donnie Jones for the punter job. Square is another decent grab too, just as likely to make it as King imo. The Oregon DT, Russell Sheppard, and the 2 lineman are probably just camp bodies. And that puts us at 91, so we need to cut someone (probably an olineman or WR)

It wasn't a sexy draft, but it wasn't supposed to be. I'm happy we got a young tackle who can immediately solidify the line and hopefully be the franchise LT of the future. Even if Peters plays well this year, we could save $10 million by cutting him next year. Though that's the last year of his contract. Grabbing a tight end is a good move. I like Celek, but he's shown his ceiling. Not sure about Bennie Logan and where he fits. I really like the Matt Barkley pick. I think he could be successful with the right system. I really wanted Cyprien in round two, but he wasn't available. Glad we got another safety. Joe Kruger could be a nice piece to develop. Poyer is great value in round 7. Good draft. Excited to see what the defense looks like, even more excited to see what the offense will be.

Yeah were in no ones winners or losers section so it makes sense. Just all around B picks.
Chip's honesty is just awesome from a fan prospective tho. He indicated one of the players he was targetting with the 5th was USC's center Khaled Holmes. Surprised he would mention all this stuff, I can't imagine all the players would appreciate it tho. Also with their obvious interest in Dion Jordan and Khaled Homes, and not addressing either position later, I think they really truly went BPA
