The New York Jets have done what most thought impossible. They went on the road and beat Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning. So the Jets look like they should be able to hang with the Steelers, afterall they beat them here already. Not so fast. The Patriots had no defense, and the Colts had no defense. There is also a big difference in this Pittsburgh team this time around and that is Troy Palamalu who didn't play vs the Jets the first time. Even without Palamalu the Jets offense scored 13 points. Palamalu is similar to the Pitt defense that Bob Sanders was for the Colts a few years back. Palamalu has 5 INT's this season vs QB's than rank 20 or lower, and the Steelers have won the games they have played vs pedestrian QB's by an average score of 26.9-12.4. (with Palamalu in the game). Mark Sanchez numbers this year vs top 10 defenses show a 50% completion rate, and just 6 yards per attempt. The Pittsburgh defense will not allow anyone to run the ball especially when Palamalu is on the field. The Steelers allow just 62 yards a game rushing, the Jets will go nowhere in this game. Then there is the fact that this is a Championship game. How many times has a QB like Mark Sanchez made it to the Superbowl? It has happened, but very seldom. Usually the Jets have a pedestrian offense on the field and the better defense. This is different. The Steelers have both the better offense and defense. The Steelers are 9-0 ATS in their last 9 January games. I like Pittsburgh in this one.
