They're top 25 because they're in the Big 10. If they were in the SEC, they'd be top 15 - but if they were an ACC team, they'd be unranked.

I like the point, but you have to concede that they would have actually beaten better/lesser teams to deserve the ranking they had. As least perceived better/lesser teams.
