Bears 24 Packers 10, prediction and preview

Well, the longest and Best rivalry in the NFL, resumes this week, in Greenbay, where the 4-5 packers try and right the ship- and their 2 game loisng streak and 5 of last 7 games, against the 5-4 Division leading Chicago bears. At stake will be either a share of the NFCN lead or a 2 1/2 game cushion for the Chicago bears if they win for the 5th consecutive time in lambeau. The bears will look to exploit a packers defense that has lost 5 of 6 games where they have given up 115 or more rushing( and 5.0 YPR), and the pakcers will look to exploit a chicago defense that has struggled agains the pass and ranked 30th currently

    STRANGE STAT 1

Bears have won 4 consecutive games in greenbay to the tune of 95-48, for the first time since mid 80's when won 5 in a row

    STRANGE STAT 2

Devin hester has gone 9 games without a TD on special teams for the first time in career.

    STRANGE STAT 3

A win by the chicago bears will be win #699 and put them 1 win away from the first time to have 700 wins in NFL history

    Strange stat 4

Forte is the only player in the league with at least three rushing and three receiving touchdowns.

    ON OFFENSE

The Bears hope to have Kyle Orton back, who practiced for the first time yesterday. The short passing game Orton provides will be greatly needed, against a packers Defense that is awful against the run( 30th ranked by yards at 5.0 YPR), and with Barnett out even more vulnerable to TE's and screens and outlet passes to the running back out of the backfield. Look for forte to have a huge day, not only running the ball, but also receiving as the Hawk, who has pass problems will be asked to cover forte in a huge mismatch. Also look for the Bears to exploit the greg olsen/desmond bisop matchup all afternoon, as the vikings did last week. The bears should have no problem controlling the clock and keeping the ball away from the packers offense either running it or short passes to the Te's across the sticks and avoid the packers cornerbacks for the most part.

    ON DEFENSE

Once again it will be strength against weakness, as the packers pass game will look to exploit the struggling Bears secondary. The strong bears running defense should hae no problem against a dissapointing ryan grant and expect them to not try very often. We saw for the first time last week more of the 4-5 WR sets many wer expecting all year, and the bears have to be prepared to see it sunday alot. The key's will be the front 4 finally getting pressure on rodgers, who does get happy feet when pressured, against the pakcers troubled offensive line( 2 safeties last week). The pakcers will rack up the yards, but they have at times bogged down heavily in the red zone and the bears need to create some turnovers as they always seem to do in Greenbay under lovie to stop the drives. In 2 of the lasd 3 weeks rodgers has struggled against the cover 2 defense, and the Bears will be looking at those tapes to repeat those performances( both games 70's qb ratings).

    ON SPECIAL TEAMS

Both Mason crosby and robbie gould are very cluth kickers used to kicking outdoors and in bad conditions, so that is a wash. Devin Hester has gone a career-long nine games without a return touchdown (his previous high was five), and Packers punter derrick frost has been hitting low line drives when he's backed up in his own end- Hester can do something with those types of kicks. Which will be the final nail in the packers coffin if he can get off the schnide this week.

    Prediction

    BEARS 24 PACKERS 10

Orton 17-26 for 220 yards and 1 TD

forte 27 carries for 135 yards, 7 catches for 110 yards 1 td ( 60 yard td catch on a screen)

Olsen 7 catches for 85 yards 1 TD

hester one punt return for a TD

    Defense 4 sacks, 2 INT's

Hmm... if Rex Grossman starts, the Bears are screwed. The main reason that Lovie Smith dominates the Packers is because of some bad throws that they forced Brett Favre into.

I don't see the Bears getting 4 sacks unless Tommie Harris has a big day.

  5. I don't see the Bears having 1 sack. Rodgers will have 400 yards. Grant will have 20 yards. I doubt the Pack even attempts to run. Grant sucks and our run D is elite. Our pass D is terrible and GB has a good passing attack.
