the Lions have major needs and the draft may only help with some holes. But trading your best asset for value picks and maybe 2 starters.One thing that baseball teams and basketball teams do when they know that they can't win now, but can rebuild later is trade your star, let the fans moan for a season or too. And build your empire over.

CJ isn't THAT good. He's great, but not worth some of those deals.

If he was 28, 29+ then it might make sense to trade him for multiple players/help to rebuild around. But the fact that he is so young and so amazing it would make more sense to rebuild around him, not get rid of him
