An important point for this trade and the niner/packer trades. The two players traded have rather hefty salaries, and therefore the two teams are splitting the salary to lessen the salary cap blow.Comment

Have to say, Vernon is just plain dumb, and he's somewhat of a locker room distraction. And as for the Bubba Franks question, he's old and horrible outside the red zone.Comment

bubba is getting old. he is good, but getting old.
we've seen how creative mike mccarthy is with getting talent on the field. five wide, inverted wishbone, etc, so having three stud tight ends is definitely something he can handle.
also, the green bay staff has been tremendous at developing young talent and mike nolan is very aware of this, having seen it firsthand when mccarthy worked for him. davis is a bit leary that martz coming in will jeopardize his success and development as a TE. therefore, nolan pulls the trigger that will benefit both teams.
GB has plenty of room under the cap and has no problem absorbing davis's salary.Comment

there are enough reasons both ways. he was the 6th pick, right behind AJ Hawk. all parties involved are very excited about the deal. you heard the niners.Comment
