  • Picking Games Contest

Walter, have you thought about having a contest for picking games against the spread or a knockout pool?

I was wondering about this too actually. I think it would be a good idea.

I was thinking about this too. We can do it for the NFL.

      Any ideas for rules/scoring/etc?

People could pick three games a week and whoever gets the most right at the end of the year wins. It could be more games. Maybe a mandatory game or Monday game being worth more points on top of the three.

If you miss a week you just don’t get any points.

If people want to pick every game you can do that to.

I say we do the old fashioned predict who wins every game all year then have a playoff for those who do the best. The playoff would have tiebreaker questions since ties would be much more likely.

I think it should at least be against the spread.

The NFL is unpredictable enough to where I don't think we need to pick against the spread.

Nah we'd have to do spread, that takes much more skill.

The only issue with the spread is that due to unpredictability it will be horribly inaccurate the first couple of weeks.

I think it would be easier without the spread

Yeah but there's no value in picking straight up winners. If you can pick winners against the spread at a high percentage consistently, you can make tons of money (either personally or for someone in Vegas)

It will give some people a chance to pull away, i like it.

Walter picks 5 games a week against the spread.

I think it'd work if we each picked 5-6 games against the spread/total every week
