Right now, he isn't even a second-stringer. Drake Nevis has moved his way up to starting at DT next to Ricky Jean-Francois, at least at the beginning of fall camp.
Coaches have been high on Drake Nevis for awhile. The Mississippi boy reminds me of a young Glenn Dorsey, and his explosion off the snap is incredible. He made his way into the rotation as a true freshman last year, and his hard work could be the thing that gives him an edge over guys who are bigger (Woods) and more experienced (Marlon Favorite, Charles Alexander).
Like I said before, LSU's depth at DT means it takes more than talent to win the job. It's only the beginning of camp, and Al's got time to squeeze his way back up the depth chart. But how much does he want it?
