  • Team Needs Thread

Post your teams' needs here if you want...in order from biggest need to smallest need.

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    1. Center
John Wade is a huge weak link on the OL, but this year Aaron Sears and Davin Joseph have picked up the slack. If the Bucs had a big, powerful center it would make a huge differene in the running game. Also note how many botched snaps we have had this season, pretty much costing us the Lions game (2 turnovers).

    2. Cornerback
Barber and Kelly are old and we need someone to replace these guys eventually.

    3. Under Tackle
Jovan Haye isn't getting a lot of pressure and we could use a big upgrade here (Pat Sims is on my wish list). He is a liability vs. the run too. Greg Peterson is a developmental player...I'd love to see a DT tandem of Peterson and Sims in the future.

    4. Speedy Slot Wide Receiver/Return Specialist
I'd love for us to get a guy like Donnie Avery or Lavelle Hawkins. We don't have any speed at the WR position other than Galloway (and he has 2 more good years in him I think). Michael Spurlock isn't gonna cut it. If we could get a premier return guy it would make a huge difference for our team.

Those are truly our only 4 needs. Earnest Graham has been great this year for us at runningback, and we bring back Cadillac in mid-season next year and Michael Bennett will learn the rest of the playbook in the offseason and be able to contribute next year when called upon. We are very talented and deep at every other position on defense. Donald Penn has had a fantastic year for us at LT and he is only 24 years old so I expect him to get stronger in the offseason...also we have Luke Petigout coming off that ACL injury so it will be a huge camp battle.

Jeff Garcia has 1-2 years left in him imo. Luke McCown has impressed me a lot this year. Most Buc fans are overly critical but I don't have huge expectations for him if he can execute the offense. I don't think drafting a rookie QB is the answer for this position and I don't think we will address it. I just don't see the upgrade in drafting a Colt Brennan or Josh Johnson when we have McCown on our roster to be a future starter. We might draft a QB in the late rounds to be a backup because Gradkowski will be cut in the offseason.

New York Jets/New Jersey B (thank you TMQ)

      1) NT
Robertson can't plug up holes as a NT. Granted he can get to the QB, but can't stop runs. Not a good fit for 3-4. Simone Pouha can stop the run decently but isn't that great and can never get to the QB if he was in the pocket for a while.

      2) LG
Adrien Clarke is a bum. I don't he would even be a backup guard on half the teams in the league. The transition of rookie tackle Jacob Bender to guard is either not working or taking too long (learning curve?) so this needed to be addressed because holes cannot be opened up here for the running game. Did I mention he isn't good at pass blocking either? Because he isn't

      3)DE
Shaun Ellis is fine in the 3-4, better in the 4-3 but whatever he gets the job done most of the time. Kenyon Coleman is ok in the 3-4 and decent at stuffing the run, but an upgrade is needed here. Insert Chris Long (crossing fingers)

      4) OLB
Bryan (I should be Ed Reed) Thomas and Victor Hobson are the OLBs. They are fair in this system. I honestly don't know which one I like more. Hobson seems to understand the game better, but Thomas is a little more athletic but gets lost at times. Need an upgrade here.

      5) MLB
Barton needs to be replaced. He is too small and gets knocked out of the way easily when other teams run at him. Plus he can't chase anyone down.

      6) RT
Anthony Clement is fair at best. His pass protection is ok, not good though. His run blocking sucks that's why they can never run outside to the right side. Needs to be replaced within the next 2 seasons.

      7) CB
Would be nice to upgrade from an injuried Dyson to give a nice compliment to Revis. But if Dyson is healthy by next year I'm happy. Need a little more depth outside of Poteat, Barrett (I hate you), Miller, and (my boy) D Coleman.

I'll do all the teams in more detail later, but might as well do the Eagles now:

        No. 1 WR

        TE

        Two young offensive tackles

        Center

        Pass-rushing defensive end

        Strong safety

        Kick returner

I thought Trent Cole was having a great season? And don't you have Victor Abiamiri waiting in the wings?

I've alwasy been impressed with Jamaal Jackson personally.

Also Walter you don't need 2 young tackles, you just need to move Justice to RT and find a LT.

Would the Eagles give up a 3rd round pick for Luke Petigout if Tra Thomas retires?

is najeh davenport (aka closet-****ter) still kindof slow? since he broke his ankle in GB he hasn't had the same burst or even toughness he used to.

                    Giants:

                    Defensive Back:

We need playmakers there if we want to challenge Dallas. Gibril Wilson is a free-agent as well this year so this is a big issue.

                    Left Tackle:

Diehl has been an ok stop gap, and excels in run blocking. His pass blocking is quite poor though and hes not a long term option.

                    Kicker:

Lawrence Tynes is very erratic, and I don't have faith in him. The Giants don't either displayed by the fact they went for the TD instead of run down the clock and go for the FG against Chicago.

                    Pass catching RB:

The Giants have had some problems with passing out the backfield, near enough everyone here has had problems with drops.

                    Wide Receiver:

Has been a problem this year with drops, but hopefully Steve Smith's return addresses that to an extent.

Ya he is, but we don't use him for his speed. That's Fast Willies job. Did you see him jump the pile in the New England game?

BREAKING NEWS, WILLIAM JOSEPH TO TAMPA FOR 1ST ROUND PICK.

The stud Defensive Tackle that Tampa has been searching for. He didn't go in the first round for nothing.

I just posted something like this, spent all morning on it, and you do one better. Hmmph...But if you insist I will list my ramblings about the Browns defense AGAIN! No I'm not that mean I will just give the positions.

                              1) Defensive Line (Three worth keeping, 2 as backups, one will be kept regardless)
                              2) Strong Side Linebacker
                              3) Right Guard (If Ryan Tucker jumps the snap one more time...)
                              4) Nickle Back
                              5) Wide Reciever (Joe J. will get old some day)
                              6) Running Back (Trade will take care of this is why it's so low)

There you go. The Browns needs.
