  • I'm kinda of on your side Walter

My school I attend is Youngstown State a FCS (Former D-1AA school). There have always been the people that want YSU to move up to FBS (D-1A). If YSU made the move they would join the pop warner league conference which is the MAC. The MAC is terrible, so we would dominate the conference, however we would not play for a national title. What point is it playing in the Motor City bowl? Last season we made it to the FCS semifinals, so our accomplishment last season was being Division I Football National Semifinialist. Doesn't that sound better than being Motor City bowl champs? I think a play-off system is something every fan wants.

I would love for a 16 team play-off with the semifinals being the 4 biggest bowl games. (Fiesta, Rose, Sugar and Orange) Then the National title being what it is now. The current bowl system would act like the NIT system now. There could be more MAC, Sun Belt, Conference USA, Mountain West and WAC teams that make bowls if that happend.

16 teams is way too many...are you trying to tell me that a #14 seed would make it all the way through the playoffs to the national title? Hell no donj't go there.

An 8 team playoff would be okay (I prefer bowls) with the first round being all home games.

I don't know. I prefer the bowls for the tradition and not making the fans travel so much, and many other inconviences a playoff system would have in college football.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

      Glad to hear that!

16 teams is perfect because every conference deserves a shot. If that didn't happen in NCAABB, we would have never had Gonzaga or George Mason. That's what makes March Madness so fun, and that's what would be so great about the NCAAF Tournament.

I'd love to see YSU in the MAC.

Walter that is basketball this is totally different.

You want to see upsets Walter, it is why the regular season in college football is so great. Michigan upset by Stanford, season over no chance at the national title.

UK upset early by Stony Brook, guess what UK could still win all their games in the regular season and go on to win the national champion, but I don't think they deserve a shot because of that horrendous loss...not having a playoff makes the regular season in college football so much greater than any other sport.

But the regular season isn't supposed to be the best part of the season. It's ridiculous.

I don't for a couple of reasons. Our basketball conference (The Horizon League) is better than the MAC in basketball. Our football conference, well lets say the top 4 teams would dominate the MAC. I just don't think winning the Motor City bowl, or playing for a D-I national title like YSU does is comparable. At the end of the season after all of YSU's hard work we can define our season as successful or not successful based on our post season. In the MAC you win the Motor City Bowl, that's not something your grandchildren are gonna be excited about in 50 years.

That's true - maybe I should rephrase that and say I'd love YSU in the MAC if there were a playoff.

Hell ya.. I mean look at Flroida Atlantic. They played Toe-to-toe with Wisconsin this season, and blew out anopponent from a far superior football conference. Boise State's Cinderella story will get lost over the years, however George Masons run will never be forgotten. Let Boise and Hawaii have a chance. Let the Bowl games become the NIT of college football.

I am 100% for an NCAAF playoff. Besides certain entities that are beholden to the bowl system, EVERYONE wants this. Some of these bowls are so arbitrary and meaningless, that the players don't even care about playing in them. If you're playing to extend the season, everyone is going to show uip.

That having been said, I think Walter should pick the games, entirely for selfish, and not logical, reasons.

The real losers are people who pay $30-40, 50 even $60 to watch bowls like the Motor ****ty Bowl.

I went to the Motor ****ty Bowl 2 years ago, my friend was supposed to get me free tickets, well the guys a moron and left them under another name. The lady at Willcall tried to move me in the line that was selling tickets for $40 each, I just stood by the window and asked people getting free tickets if they had any extras. If took me 5 minutes to get 2 tickets for free. I'm all about supporting schools, however I'm not paying $80 to watch Memphis vs. Akron.
