I am putting a big amount of stock into this guy this year and drafted him as one of my RBs. I'm not sure if this is smart because he's not even technically a starter. What do you think?
I think he'll produce, which is why I have him so high, but there's a chance he won't, so I'd rather take a Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson, whom I know will get the carries.
He was a touchdown machine last year. Fred Taylor doesn't score touchdowns, he only had 5 last season. While Jones-Drew had 13 rushing touchdowns, and two receiving. Not to mention the 43 receptions JD had.
Carolina Panther's GM
1. #17 - Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh
2. #37 - Ali Highsmith, OLB, LSU
2. #43 - Jonathan Hefney, FS, Tennessee
3. #74 - John David Booty, QB, USC
3. #82 - Dre Moore, DT, Maryland
4. #107 - Matt Forte, RB, Tulane
I'd just rather have someone who's consistent with a second-round pick. MJD is a type of player who will put up monster fantasy numbers one week, and nothing the next.
He is a solid pick but i would not pic him in the 1st round, and if you do that than you are forced to take Fred Taylor and it then becomes a matchup of week to week pretty much. I do agree with walt, in respect of you cant take a running back based on if the other RB gets injured. In fact no one expected Fred Taylor to have the year that he did. Think about it!
