  • Who do you think is the Safest Pick in this years Draft?

i no that the draft is lottery and there really is no "For sure pick" but for fun who do you think is a safe pick that will live up to the hype?

I would probably have to go with Chris Long DE, Virgina.

It depends, a player in the wrong scheme can make it not a "safe" pick in terms of pure production.

I'd say the "safest" pick right now is either Jonathan Stewart or Duke Robinson, provided they committ.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

The thing with me about Chris Long is he just reminds me too much of Justin Smith. I have questions about whether Long's athleticism can translate to the NFl.

I think Jake Long is a pretty safe pick but I think Sedrick Ellis from USC is very under rated and I love the prospects the Trojans produce in the NFL

Thats a very good selection Adam. However, I think he is only a safe pick as a 3 technique. He really would struggle to play any other position.

Both Longs are pretty safe I think.

Does Robert Gallery "the safest pick in the 04 draft" ring a bell?

                      Not sayin, just sayin.

I thought about that, it's just after watching him for 3 years I can't see him going the same way as Gallery.

Why not? I mean Gallery and Long are very very very similar players.

Do I think Long will bust? No. Gallery busted because he has short arms and limited athletic ability, but he did play pretty well at guard this year.

Long has a lot of questions to answer...maybe he should have come out last year when he probably would have gone #5 overall to Arizona.

I definately don't think he is a "safe pick." He doesn't present a lot of upside. I don't think he will be a perennial pro bowler, but I do think he will be a long time starter in the NFL, much like Jeff Backus...in fact the player comparison to Backus is quite similar.

he reminds me of kampman, kerney, schobel, allen...
all those guys might have started with some limitations on athleticism, but their unflappable motors and work ethic have propelled them to being outright beasts.
