Mel Kiper has been doing this a very long time, yeah hes gonna have some dumb picks from time to time but he puts in 100's of more hours on tapes and breaking down nfl teams unlike some self proclamed draft experts on here. I have no problem with people who criticize picks but to judge someone who gets pay a large amount of money for a long time is just ignorant.
Auburn Tigers in the Draft:
Quentin Groves-DE
Patrick Lee-CB
Pat Sims-DT
Colorado Buffalos in the draft
Jordan Dizon OLB
Terrence Wheatley CB
Oh I'm not going to disagree with that tray but lets just call a spade a spade. Mel has a history of really inaccurate early projections and maybe that is because he is doing all the work himself and is just bad at it.
I mean look at some of his big boards this year...absolutely horrible.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.
Mel deserves respect for every draftnik because he is a huge reason why the NFL Draft is as big as it is today.
MKJ is the godfather of the Draft. Period. That doesn't mean I always agree with what he has to say or agree with his mocks. He deserves criticsm because every analyst does whether on tv, internet, or radio.
I'm just saying he deserves that layer of respect from all draftniks because he truly was the first to fall in love with the draft.

True but Mel usually has a lot of picks that make you go Huh? early on. Gets poeple talking about it like we are now. Because if his mock was perfect(as we expect from the great Mel Kiper) no one would say much.
Creating a mock draft is not an exact science, Ive never seen a single person or publication ever get even 80% of the first round right. So to say someone is an expert is stupid, we all do this cause we love football. But Mel Kiper puts in the hours and see's a lot of stuff we dont see. For every dumb pick he's got 4 or 5 that are right on. There's a differance between who we think fits a team and who they like. Ive been watching the draft very closely for 15 years and the best thing about it; is it a suprise most of the time.

True, the draft is a very unpredictable thing. But these picks just make no sense.
7. NE: Aqib Talib
9. CIN: Phillip Merling
20. TB: Felix Jones
23. PIT: Chilo Rachal
26. JAX: Derrick Harvey*
27. SD: Reggie Smith
Bucs will not take a RB in round 1 with so many needs and Graham had a really good season we will likely resign Michael Bennett. Also the draft is deep at RB and could address that later. Horrible pick with Felix Jones.
Derrick Harvey DOES NOT fit the Jags scheme, period. They like bigger, bulky linemen up front and Harvey is the opposite of that.
Reggie Smith to the chargers? Why? Cromartie, Jammer, they just drafted Paul Oliver. That pick makes no sense. They will go ILB or OL in round 1 since they don't pick again until round 5. The need must be addressed.
I mean once he gave the Bucs Antonio Cromartie in round 1 even though he is a horrible fit as a zone corner and the Bucs never take DBs in the first round.
Just a below average mock drafter.
