  • Ikegwuonu to go undrafted?

NFL | Ikegwuonu injured, will miss 2008 season
    Thu, 24 Jan 2008 13:33:35 -0800

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports University of Wisconsin CB Jack Ikegwuonu (knee) suffered serious knee injuries while training Tuesday, Jan. 22. He suffered a torn ACL, a torn MCL and damage to his kneecap and will need reconstructive knee surgery, according to a source. It is unclear if he will be taken in the 2008 NFL Draft.
First i heard about this, but man that really sucks for him...

for the record, though, the milwauke urinal sentinal sucks. those guys just blab to hear themselves talk. they usually are quick on the news stories, but any analysis they give is loaded with their own overinflated ego trips.

01/11/08 - Jack Ikegwuonu's trial date has been pushed back again, yet the Illinois prosecutor handling the case said the slow pace of the case against the University of Wisconsin football player is not out of the norm for her jurisdiction. Ikegwuonu, who recently declared for the NFL draft, had been scheduled to stand trial Monday in Sycamore, Ill., on charges of residential burglary and criminal trespass. But his defense attorney, Deborah Schafer of Rockford, had a trial scheduled in another county and received a delay to March 24. Ikegwuonu has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which are related to his arrest Nov. 25, 2006. He and his twin brother, Bill, allegedly broke into an apartment in DeKalb, Ill. -- where Bill attended school at Northern Illinois and played defensive back for the football team -- and tried to steal an Xbox. If convicted of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony in Illinois, Jack Ikegwuonu faces a minimum of four years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000. Stephanie Klein, the assistant state attorney who is trying the case, said today that cases of this nature typically take 18 months to two years to get resolved. - Adam Mertz, The Capital Times

You can buy Xbox's for 20 dollars now unless of course were talking 360.

Man that really sucks...I feel sorry for the kid.

Still enough talent there to be taken in the 5th round...too much talent to go undrafted. Yeah he might have to sit out a year but he could make a solid starter in the NFL if he comes back good from his injury.

He still has to impress the scouts with how hard he trains and recooperates...they want to see that desire to be great.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

Even injured, he'd be worth a late round flier.

I guess this depends on the case if teams have reason to believe he will go to jail he won't get drafted. But I don't see the injuries stopping such a talented kid from getting drafted. I would guess he would end up in the 4-5 round range like Marcus Thomas and Michael Bush last year.

Yeah I agree VAD....Michael Bush is a very good comparison, but Ikegwuonu hasn't had durability concerns throughout his career like Bush...correct if wrong.
