  • Class of 2004 chasing 1983?

Obviously way to early to put up a serious debate, but 1983 is known as "The QB Draft Class" but 2004 is looking very promising.

1983: John Elway, Jim Kelly, Tony Eason, Todd Blackledge, Ken O'Brien, and Dan Marino (picked in that order).
-Eason and Blackledge did nothing in their careers
--Ken O'Brien had some average numbers, but made two pro bowls.
---Elway and Marino had fantastic record breaking careers

2004: Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, J.P. Losman, and Matt Schaub (picked in that order)
-J.P. Losman and Matt Schaub have yet to prove anything
--Phillip Rivers has lead his team to the playoffs twice winning one game.
---Roethlisberger and Manning have already won Superbowls.

When's it's all said and done I think the 2004 class will be top 3 QB classes of all time.

Great call, NNC, could happen, though those guys have big "Sheos" to fill.

                1983: 2/10 in the Superbowl (Elway 2/5, Kelly 0/4 and Marino 0/1)
                2004: 2/2 in the Superbowl (Roethlisberger 1/1, Manning 1/1)

Not to mention I have a strong feeling that J.P. Losman will come on strong in his 30's for at least 6 Superbowls..... lol ok nvm I can't even joke about Losman.

Losman is so horrible, it's not even funny. Why couldn't have Vince Young come out in '05?

Why would he have wanted to come out then? He was average for a college quarterback at throwing the ball his sophomore year.

Even at that point, Young was just as good of a passer as Smith, and he will always be a better runner than Smith.

Alex Smith still would have gone before him. Didn't Young have more INTs than TDs that year?

I just remember him being far from a polished passer
