His answer to why Walter said, "I think he and Kiper make absurd statements just to get attention."

Once again, Mayock just puts on the tape and shows all the McFaddenites they are wrong in their projection. He didn't mention it, but like I said I am really concerned about how much strength McFadden lacks in his lower body, but it shows up on tape because he can't absorb hits and drive through.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

Yeah he really does...I think I overrated Jonathan Stewart. Going to put on my USC vs. Oregon tape and observe him again.

yup, I definitely think Mendenhall is the best back.... and McFadden will be a bust.

Mayock knows his stuff, I've never denied that, but he's an egomaniac just like Kiper.

I refuse be a banwaggoner* Darren McFadden is still the best back in the draft.

D-Mac is the best back in the draft, but he is not an elite prospect.

49ers fan and I are on the same page here.

McFadden is the best back in the draft, but it is by a very small margin imo. I don't have him in my top 10 overall anymore because some players moved ahead of him.

I'd also like to say I'm very uncomfortable with having McFadden as the best back in the draft, but I'm not denying the speed or ability in the open field. I see too much Reggie Bush in him and he lacks lower body strength. I agree with Mayock from where he is coming from, but I think he is underrating McFadden's trucking a tiny bit and overrating Mendenhall's power a tiny bit.

I still think McFadden is the best draft prospect. He holds the ball in his left hand to much? Alright, well I'm sure if it presents a problem in the NFL like Mayock predicts then D-Mac will be coached around it. Once again, I'll point out Tiki Barber... him changing the way he held the ball didn't affect his running ability (it just made him look like a jackass).

Not being able to drive your legs running through the tackles is a problem, for sure. I'm not going to compare him to Reggie Bush because I think he's a much better inside runner than Bush, but yet again, it's something that can be worked on.

The burst, the next gear, great balance, all the positive things mentioned about McFadden are things you can't coach to a player like Mendenhall. Whereas driving your legs and finishing runs are things that are coached.

McFadden has potential to be a superstar in this league, and Mendenhall has potential to be in the upper echelon of running backs during his stay in the NFL.

I totally agree with your post. We see lots of great athletes come in through the draft, but the ones who turn into superstars are the ones who go the extra mile and get stronger, change their game and do the little things to be great. Look at Reggie Bush, he's got all the atheticism in the worls, but he isn't willing to run inside 25 times a game for 16 out of 17 weeks every fall. LT's the opposite, he wasn't as highly touted out of college, but he worked hard on every part of his game and now he's one of the most complete backs of all time.
PATS, HABS and YANKS for life!

Great post NNC, I couldn't have said it better myself. IMO McFadden is the top prospect in this class, and people who think he isn't a first-round pick are (as I've said earlier) just trying to draw attention to themselves.
