    With All-Pro guard Alan Faneca all but gone, the Steelers moved to shore up their offensive line even before the start of the free-agent signing period and the NFL draft. According to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh placed the transition tag on Max Starks on Wednesday, though that doesn't guarantee the tackle will be with the Steelers for this season.

    According to a report on, the Chicago Bears will cut ties with veteran offensive guard Ruben Brown, coach Lovie Smith said Thursday at the NFL combine in Indianapolis. Brown didn't finish the season after undergoing shoulder surgery. He had expressed optimism that he would be back with the Bears.

    It looks like Jamal Lewis will remain with the Browns as a deal between the to two is "immient" according to a report Thursday by The Plain Dealer. According to the report, Browns general manager Phil Savage told a local Cleveland radio station that the deal could be done within the next 24 hours. It is believed to be a two-year deal with an option for a third.
