He turned down the other offer with $11M so I don't think so ... like I said I don't see why they can't just offer him the tender (and it should be $2m and 1st round pick as comp)

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

I would have bet money that they would not have been offering this big of a deal to Anderson with Quinn riding the pine. I think it's a smart move but might hurt the salary down the road

Quinn might beat out Anderson though in training camp altogether. I say this horse race is much closer than anyone thinks.

Yeah, but three years is good length on the contract on the browns behalf. It is long enough to keep him around if he turns out to be brilliant and can show that this wasn't one lucky year, and it is probably short enough to not make Quinn request a trade.

I doubt Quinn will be willing to sit the bench for 4 years. Phillips Rivers freaked out after 3.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Browns have increased their offer to free agent Derek Anderson to a three-year, $21-23 million deal, with $12 million guaranteed.

A source tells the Dispatch that a deal could be reached if the team went to $24 million total, which certainly seems doable if the sides are really that close. The Browns are certainly making themselves look like they tried everything to re-sign Anderson.

Just an update, looks like a done deal.

Probably the one the Columbus Dispatch was talking about.

                    On a side note

"Donte Stallworth is expected to visit with the Browns on Friday.

Stallworth would immediately become the No. 2 receiver opposite Braylon Edwards, and give Cleveland a second legitimate deep threat. "

I usually won't post team visits but this one seemed like a nice one to put especially in this thread

Cleveland Plains Dealer talking. CPD is always on target. ESPN later reported Phil Savage said if Anderson rejects this offer they would tender him.

Matt I agree that Quinn is closer to starting than most people think he is. Going through a full camp may make him the winner of the job anyway.

I like the 3 year deal now because they can still trade him ... I'd do it str8t up with Minnesota right now for their first and 5th round picks.
