Very good article. Polian is right.... I have been thinking, when do you think we're going to see a team with a top 5 pick just let time expire?
Something like this - hypothetically:
1. Miami takes C. Long.
2. St. Louis takes J. Long.
3. Oakland wants either Ellis or Dorsey equally. So they let time expire, if Atlanta takes Ellis, Oakland then takes Dorsey. Or vice versa.
4. If Atlanta takes Ryan or McFadden, Oakland does the same thing and takes whatever Dt the Chiefs don't take.
5. if the Chiefs take Clady, Oakland plays the same game with the Jets, and so on.
So, Oakland can move down from 3 to 6, get the same guy they wanted, and save millions.
Aside from Al Davis never doing this - I can see some situation where a team does this just to save money. Maybe it will take that to wake everyone up!NY Giants fan since birth.

In 2003, the Saints sent the 17th and 18th choices as part of a package to Arizona for a package that included the sixth pick. New Orleans drafted Georgia defensive tackle Johnathan Sullivan, who was out of the league after 16 starts and three NFL seasons.

If this happens like Minn in 2002 (but on purpose) then Goodell will put in a rule that you have to make a pick at your selection (or trade) and if you don't you will incur a financial penalty...it would be a great move by Goodell to keep integrity of the Draft.2014-2015 Kentucky Wildcats (38-1)
Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.
