  • DT Jenkins Definitely to Jets

    Lots of rumors about this

"Nearly a year after starting the process, the Carolina Panthers are about to unload disgruntled defensive tackle Kris Jenkins. The Panthers and New York Jets have been in heavy trade discussions about the three-time Pro Bowler and a deal could be completed Friday, according to multiple sources. The Panthers tried to trade Jenkins before last year's draft but pulled back when they couldn't get a first-round pick in return.

It's likely they'll willl settle for less (probably a third-round choice) this time to get rid of Jenkins, who, in July, said he didn't like living in Charlotte. He also didn't endear himself to the coaching staff by skipping last year's voluntary workouts to spend time with family in the Washington, D.C. area."

I don't know ... I don't have any faith in Jenkins to ever play to his potential/stay in shape/stay healthy.

So Jenkins is offically a jet but i also heard rumors they are in a 3 way deal with Detroit and Denver to send Robertson to Denver, Denver sends Domaniqie Foxworth to Detroit along with a 2nd round pick and Detroit Send Shaun Rogers to New york.

Not sure if this is still in the works since they landed Jenkins, but it could be.

Jets acquired Kris Jenkins for third- and fifth-round picks in the 2008 draft.

Both FoxSports and ESPN has confirmed the news. It remains uncertain if the Jets will restructure Jenkins' contract. New York is taking a risk, and has been surprisingly willing to give up picks in the Mangini era, but Jenkins should fit their scheme well and replace Dewayne Robertson.

Thanks VB. Good job by the Jets trying to fix themselves up front on both sides. They identified their problem correctly. It looks like the will get Faneca. Hope they can get that pass rusher in the draft. I’m stuck with Jets football all year which could torture as you know so it’s better if they can compete. I have friends that are Jets fans too.

Awesome post by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

                  I hope it comes true!

"Going to make a prediction right now: Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins will make the Pro Bowl for the Jets next season.

Jenkins, who's being traded from Carolina to the Jets, is going to thrive in New York. When I was working at The Charlotte Observer last summer, Jenkins created a bit of a stir when he revealed to me that he didn't really like living in Charlotte. He talked about how he preferred bigger cities with more to do.

Well, cities don't come bigger than New York, and that's going to make Jenkins happy off the field. But he's also going to be happy on the field in the middle of New York's 3-4 defense. That's the kind of challenge Jenkins needs to get back to the form that got him to three Pro Bowls.

Jenkins is the kind of guy who gets bored easily and he got bored and disgruntled in Carolina, where he had stopped believing in the coaching staff several years ago. Panthers coach John Fox likes his players to be robots, and the outspoken Jenkins wasn't the type to spew the company line.

Jenkins still played well last year after the Panthers failed in a previous attempt to trade him. But he'll play even better in New York because he'll have the freedom to be himself on and off the field."

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Jets signed DT Kris Jenkins to a five-year, $35 million contract, with $20 million guaranteed.

Dont worry Siena, I only have one First Day selection now.

As for the trade, it is good for the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets if Jenkins stays healthy.
