  • Asante Samuel and Jerry Porter Update

Decided to combine them because didn't feel Porter was worth another thread.

FOXSports.com has learned Oakland wide receiver Jerry Porter is set to visit with Jacksonville and may already have reached agreement on a contract. Also, a source said Philadelphia is set to host New England cornerback Asante Samuel on a free-agent visit.

I'm telling ya Philly is gonna sign him.

        Better update:

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars agreed to terms with Jerry Porter on a six-year, $30 million contract, with $10 million guaranteed.

"That's almost reasonable in this market. Jacksonville likes their wideouts bulky and Porter will help in the red zone, hurting Reggie Williams. Porter will start, probably opposite Williams or Matt Jones, with Dennis Northcutt in the slot. We think Porter can be a solid starter, but his fantasy potential is limited to WR3/4 status in a conservative spread-the-wealth offense. Troy Williamson chances to make an impact just went down. "

Here's the big one we were waiting for:

Free agent Asante Samuel's contract with the Eagles will reportedly be for five years and $47.2 million.

The official announcement is expected to come later this afternoon. On only a five-year pact, Samuel will be able to re-enter the market at age 32.

Not official yet, but looks like it's gonna happen real soon.
