  • Calvin Pace Update

The Dolphins are expected to offer Calvin Pace a deal similar to the one Adalius Thomas and Joey Porter commanded last off-season.

The acquisition of Pace would almost certainly shift the Dolphins into more of a permanent 3-4 defense, as Pace struggled in 4-3 schemes for his first four years in the NFL.

Does this change the Chris Long mock draft scenario?

SI.com's Bucky Brooks reports the Dolphins have signed free agent LB Calvin Pace to a contract that will guarantee him over $20 million.

"Brooks could be dead on here, but we're going to wait before assuming this is done until we hear it from one of the teams. Pace indicated to the Miami Herald late Friday that he wanted to visit the Jets before signing a deal."

Supposedly he wanted to go check out the New York Jets before he made a decision. So I'm not sure if this is exactly true at the moment.

Doesn't change Chris Long being the #1 pick at all imo. He is still the best player on the board.

Look, no way they take Matt Ryan and you don't take a LT #1 overall unless he is of a Joe Thomas quality. Jake Long is a notch below Thomas. You don't take him #1 overall. He could be the next Tony Mandarich that just can't play LT and you don't take that risk on such a costly pick.

Its looking more and more like there may already be a Dallas/Miami trade for the #1 overall pick in place.

We all know that Jones has a hard on for McFadden, and i could see Parcells undercutting the value of the pick to turn the franchise around faster.

Both first round picks, MArcus Spears and Bobby Carpenter for the #1 overall so he can take McFadden?

Even if the value doesnt match up, if iam Maimi's GM i probably take that deal.

Ugh..Craig read my blog I completely shut down why trading for the #1 pick would be DUMB.

Okay. Listen to ESPN. Matt Ryan is going #1 overall, Todd McShay changed my mind. Before that happens though yeah I think it is really realistic that Jerry Jones is goinig to trade away 3 players, 2 first round picks, a future pick, and whatever else to get the #1 pick becuase you definately need to move ahead of the ****ing Saint Louis Rams to get Darren McFadden.

Great strategy. ESPN just knows everything about the Draft. Why doesn't Todd McShay have a blog? I want more of his genius? What about MIke Golid? Does that draft genius have a blog? No? John Clayton? I want more ESPN genius. Hey while we are at it, why don't the Miami Dolphins select Glenn Dorsey #1 overall Mel Kiper? Yeah that is really smart.
