  • 2007 draft

does anyone think the steelers should have either traded up to get Laron landry or stayed where they were at and got reggie nelson? They still made a good pick in rd 2 with lammarr woodley.

tell me what you guys think your team should have done in the 2007 draft

Do what we did, even the trade with NE.

I'm also very happy with the Jets 07 draft.

In my mock I never had the Steelers taking Lawrence Timmons ... I thought it was a bad idea ... still do.

Congrats to Wisconsin. Even more congrats to UK haters.

I would keep all of my Bucs picks the same. GREAT draft.

              I'm the new guy

Well, playing armchair GM is always a fun thing to do...I occasionally go back several drafts and year by year decide what players I'd have chosen in each round and write down the players that turned out to be good players. After completing a full team over a 6 or 7 year stretch it's kinda fun to imagine having that DeLorean and going back to draft a dynasty team. As far as this past year it's still a bit tough yet to really say who was a good pick and who wasn't, but as far as the Hawks go I really like who they picked overall. I'd, of course, tweak a thing or two.

First, I'd never have traded our 1st round pick for Branch. Instead, knowing that our offensive line situation is a huge reason for the inept running game I'd have selected Ben Grubbs and moved Rob Sims over to RG. This would solidify 4 of 5 OL for years to come. This of course would leave us in our current situation as being a bit weak at WR. Maybe having the extra cap room we could have made a push for Stallworth or something like that.

Second, I'd have drafted Wilson in the second and Mebane in the third. Brandon Mebane turned out to be a steal in the third round and Wilson is a solid depth guy behind Trufant and Jennings. If we're unable to resign Trufant and end up not giving him the franchise tag for a second year in a row then Wilson would be a solid 2nd CB behind Jennings.

Also, if we're totally playing armchair here it's hard not to say you'd have taken Kevin Boss in the 5th and Ahmad Bradshaw in the 7th given our current problems at those positions.

Considering our obvious need for a TE last year I was shocked we didn't draft one and I recall being very high on Boss as a NW sleeper guy. Apparently, they thought Pollard would last more than half a season.

Overall, I thought they did a decent job while neglecting a couple areas.

I was getting like screamed at by Bears fans for wanting Greg Olsen. Everyone was saying he was a bad fit for our O.
