  • Jets Offseason Moves

Just curious what you people think. I like what they did so far but was worried about all the cap space they were eating up with "overpaying". But I found an article that makes me feel better.

Faneca was an excellent pickup. The right side of their O-Line is now ready to kick some a**.

Woody was nice and will be good at left guard or tackle, if he stays healthy.

Pace was in a contract year and has had one good season so that is up in the air for me.

Jenkins...He stays healthy he is one of the most dominate defenders in the league. How long has it been since he has played over 10 games though?

I dunno. To me this article is like polishing a turd. It's still a turd.

Faneca was a good pickup, but the Jets overpaid for everyone.

No way he sucks, 5 mill a yearm, lol

Pay a guy that much for ONE good year, idk

First, Faneca was the best pickup I agree. But he will be the starting LG being put next to D'Brick and Mangold to form a very nice Left side of the O-Line for Jones and Washington to run behind.

Woody is likely to start at RT even though I wanted them to draft an OL in the draft to groom at RT o well not sure if that's gonna happen. Woody sucked at Guard last year but looked much better at RT from what I heard (animal?)

Well the Pace contract at first I was upset at, but the more I look at it the less it hurts. The contract doesn't look as bad when broken down. As for the fact about only having 1 good year I agree. I was concerned about them overpaying for his 1 good year only - maybe he's a 1 year wonder. But it was the first year he playing in a 3-4 at ARZ and he thrived. He could be worth the money if he keeps pressuring the QB and making plays.

The Jenkins trade I really do like. Sucks they lost a 3 and 5, but they get a legit NT who I feel still has a lot left. He gonna be 29 by the start of the season and I think he's got at least 4-5 really good seasons if he remands healthy. He was hurt in 04 and 05, but played well in 06 (probowl) and I dunno about his 07 year. He seems like the type of person based on what I read who truely needed a change of scenery (sounds like a clinche but I feel it will hold true here). He was sick of Carolina, was bored of the city, needed a new challenge, and I think NY and being a NT in a 3-4 is exactly what the doctor ordered. Plus the fact that he has a mean streak and commands a constant double team without getting pushed off the line is gonna be fun to watch. I'm happier they trade for him than Shaun Rodgers or Marcus Stroud, the latter not being made for NT.

Kris Jenkins is an overrated acquisition imo and they grossly overpaid Woody.

Thought I wrote this already but I don't see it.

Let me add to what I had before.

Woody will be good but they paid 2 mil too much.

Pace could be a very good player but I dont trust the one year wonders. It is up in the air for me because he can have a good year. No I wouldnt pay a one year wonder that much.

If Jenkens can't stay healthy he will be out of the league. I am not sure if he can and with that alone they overpaid.

Faneca sures up the right side of the line with a pro bowl caliber player and pushes the other young guys to pull their weight. That is why he is worth the deal.

Overall the Jets are much improved, however the price...not worth it all in my view.

I didn't get the Woody signing. He was benched twice last year.

Mangini said something about him being able to play all the positions on the line was important. He was also a Patriot when Mangini was coaching there.

No seriously Jenkins played the last 2 full seasons healthy. I have faith he will stay healthy the entire season.

Ok, well that means he just faded from being an impact player and hopefuly for J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets fans he can regain the fear he once struck into the hearts of opponents.

I like what the Jets have done based on what needs they filled and my faith thier management. Mangini and Tannebaum a very smart guys and am sure they have their whole situation and future well planned out. They won't screw up their cap and futrue. I think Tannabaum was the Jet's capologist for Parcels. They just drafted a large part of their team. They will have enough moneyto sign Rhodes, Cotchery, and build through the draft.

I loved Mangini's first draft (the first 2 rounds anyways) but I wasn't a big fan of the 2007 draft in trading up twice when I felt they had a lot of needs.

Personally I think they were so stupid not to throw their week 17 game. If they did they would have the 3rd pick in the draft and not the 6th pick. They will be lucky that Gholston will fall to them because Atlanta and Kansas City are 4-3 teams that won't draft DE and Oakland will take McFadden, but it was a dumb decision.
