  • Matt McGuire's Pre-Draft Analysis - St. Louis Rams

    Great write-up, Matt.

I'm a bit disappointed you didn't talk about Glenn Dorsey's knee issues. That's one of the major reasons I moved him out of the No. 2 pick, along with what you mentioned in your write-up and the fact that DE is a much bigger need for the Rams than DT.

I don't think DE is a bigger need than DT in fact I think quite the opposite.

DE is a much bigger need. They have no DEs.

I sent you an e-mail, Matt

It's being archived, and I address that somewhat in my e-mail.

Carriker is at 310 pounds, not sure he can play end in the 4-3.

They do need DE more (James Hall, give me a break), and neither DT should go #2 (Ellis' stock has dropped, Dorsey has injury problems).

The Rams are "making a lot of noise" about LSU DT Glenn Dorsey, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.
"Dorsey will be in St. Louis in mid-April for a two-day visit. The Rams smokescreened heavily with Ted Ginn Jr. last year, so we wouldn't read into this much. They're quite a bit more needy at the defensive end position."

                -roto

Hard to tell if they are postering or not. Do they really think some team would be stupid enough to trade up to the 2nd spot for Dorsey?

                  absolutely not

The draft is like a poker game. Do you show everyone your cards? What is the point of that. You want your opponents to not know exactly what you are going to do.

Why? Because it gives out information obviously, and like in a poker game you want to misinform the other players at the table.

The Rams, Dolphins, Falcons, Raiders etc will wine and dine every top prospect. And they should.

                    Agreed. Smokescreening is a necessity.
