  • Rookie Scouting Portfolio

While this website clearly boasts many of the "most elite NFL Draft analysts in the world," I thought some people here might be interested in the Rookie Scouting Portfolio that Matt Waldman publishes over at the FFToday website. Today is the last day it's available for pre-order at $10, before the price jumps to $18 on 4/1. I've read the 2006 and 2007 versions, and IMHO it's well worth the money. He clearly spends tons of time watching game film very closely and has a very complex rating system for evaluating players. I tend to distrust subjective ratings of players, but his system uses such clear reference points and quantifies data so well that it won me over. Because his focus is on fantasy football, he limits his evaluations to QB, RB, WR, and TE. He's good at most positions, but quite excellent at RB evaluations. The entire report runs over 500 pages, with hardly any filler, so for about 2 cents per page, you're getting lots of good analysis. Anyway, in case anyone is interested, here is the link: http://www.fftoday.com/scouting/index.php.

Would this be considered spam? Not accusing or anything just curious.

I actually worried about that and checked the board rules before I posted:

      2) Unlike other forums, Web site promotion IS ALLOWED - as long as it has to do with football or other sports. If it's a link to a funny or informational Web site, that's also accepted. If you're looking to promote a mortgage Web site or a site about cheap auto insurance, you're in the wrong place. No one's going to click on that stuff. Any completely irrelevant links (i.e. Viagra, Cialis) will be removed.
I also realize that many in the online football community get touchy about any references to other websites. I figured that people here are more interested in getting educated about players than about protecting turf, and would be interested in a good source of information even if it comes from another board. Nevertheless, if the mods want to delete this post anyway, that's fine too.

For the record, I am not Matt Waldman and I get no benefit from sales of his product. I'm just a satisfied customer who wanted to recommend it to others that might find it useful. Do with the info whatever you want.

Maybe I'll get draft guides next year. For this year, WF and my insider sources are good enough for me.

I feel better about gut instincts when it comes to drafts.
