Um yeah I've been saying Dorsey to the Rams since January and now all of a sudden in the words of draft "expert" Scott Wright:

In recent weeks it has become increasingly clear that Atlanta is targeting Glenn Dorsey at #3 overall, however the Rams are also very high on Dorsey and could take him one pick ahead of the Falcons.

I have been saying this for months ... but the pick here has always been: Chris Long, Jake Long, or very recently (with Walter being the first) Vernon Gholston in a typical cliche mock draft near you.

Just an interesting tidbit about another one of my projections that is looking more and more likely.

Up until recently I had the Rams taking OT Jake Long because, a)they drafted DT A. Carricker last year, b) the OL is aging, and, c)OT is a safe pick for a big contract. But after Gholston's Combine, his ranking improved and this justified moving him up to the #2 spot for the Rams due to their lack of a pass rush and rumors they are switching to a 3-4, which would be a great fit for Gholston. Glen Dorsey is a 4-3 DT, and with Carricker already in place and with other needs to fill, I think they pass on Dorsey and take Gholston. JMHO, though.

Maybe they are switching to the 3-4 (in which Jake Long or Gholston would be the pick) or maybe they want to build their defense around Dorsey in the 4-3.

They do have Alex Barron and I think he just might need a little more experience at LT before we declare him a total bust.

Carriker is not a defensive tackle and he doesn't look comfortable there. I never thought he was a 3 technique and whne you compare him to Glenn Dorsey they are in different galaxies.

Draft Dorsey, move Carriker out to LDE and you kill 2 birds with one stone.

Gholston's combine doesn't matter. We expected him to do what he did therefore it should not affect his draft stock at all. I know I am the only one who has this theory but it makes a lot of sense.

If you expect DeSean Jackson to run in the low 4.3s and he does that then his stock should stay the same. If Jackson ran a 4.4-4.45 then his stock goes down because he did not meet the projection.

Gholston was my #5 player going into the combine, and because I wasn't impressed with Jake Long's quickness at the combine then I moved Gholston up to 4 by default ... his combine did not affect my big board.

High on Dorsey? Weren't the Rams high on Ted Ginn last year? You can't believe what these teams say. They always lie.

Um Walter they didn't have a chance to get Ginn. He went #9 and they picked #13. Trading up would be a bad move because they had so many needs to fill.

They always lie but buzz is there sometimes. Buccaneers loved Cadillac Williams at the Senior Bowl and made that very well known. Texans were rumored to seriously consider Mario Williams at #1 before they signed him. Lions were rumored to take Calvin Johnson at #2 if Tampa didn't give them what they wanted. Browns loved Joe Thomas. Tampa loved Gaines Adams. Same for Arizona, Minnesota, etc.

Is there misinformation? Yes, but there is some valuable information in rumors on the logical occasion.

Once again, your point doesn't matter since the Rams didn't have a chance at Ginn.

Throw in Al Davis liking Russell and that obviously happened.

I think it's somewhat comical how you look down, seemingly, on these draft experts, and then you look at their work and use it as an example to give your mocks more credibility. Very Neo-mercantalistic of you.

Well what am I supposed to do. Say they all know what they are talking about when they obviously can't put their finger even on the #1 pick?

No, I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong. I just think it's funny how you seem to step on them all the time, but then pick them up when it makes you look good that's all. It isn't an insult, just an observation that I find funny.

Well am I supposed to call them morons when they agree with me.

I am objective. When they make good calls (Scouts Inc. had Chris Long #1 on their board last summer) I give them kuods.

When they make bad calls (Charles Davis and all his bad draft projections before his Top 10 mock was released) I say they suck.

I'm not going to hate all the time (I do most of the time because I do think they suck a lot of the time) and I'm not going to praise all the time. It is just the way I am because I think to be a good analyst/scout you must do your best to be objective.

Yes Matt we know you're a draft geneus. That is why I constantly come to you when I have a question. Not your fault these wannabe's want to copy your stuff. One day they will be copying your Mock's pick for Pick. McShay has already started.

dude 49's fan i'm curious about your thoughts on Dorsey? How do you have him dropping to the Panthers? I figure if he gets past the Bengals he definitely won't go through the Saints. (Not flaming or anything, just curious)

Glenn Dorsey to the Panthers? Not a chance. I can think of at least seven teams who could possibly draft him before Carolina.
